Personal history
For almost 5 years, Lin’or grew up without any knowledge of what went on underneath the Shuloon Family Bakery. Then he caught a glimpse of his mother one night walking into the back room with blood on her hands and shirt. For the next two years, he spent every free moment of his time trying to get into the back room but he was always caught and shooed away. He even learned mage hand from the old dragonborn, Thibern, which ran the magic shop down the street from the bakery. This almost got him in, until he knocked down one of the boxes next to the door which alerted his grandmother, Grace.
Instead of scolding him however, as he expected, she smiled and handed him a book. She told him that it was a spell book and that he should put any spells that he learns in there. She also told him that her spell book is his, should she ever die. Then she just opened the door to the back fully and led him in. This was the start of the worst years of his life.
He was immediately brought to his father in the main chamber in the underground fortress that was built underneath the bakery and quite a bit of the surrounding area. That was when he learned that his family has been leading an assassin’s clan called the Bloody Ravens. His father smiled a little when he learned of Lin’or trying to sneak in. He then told Kire’y, Lin’or’s older sister, to lead him to the training hall where the newest batch of recruits was waiting for their training. Kire’ny did so and explained to Lin’or the very basics of what was going on while they were walking.
In the training room, he saw his aunt, Brig’et, putting blindfolds on ten other people that varied in age and looks. Without skipping a beat, she put a blindfold on him as well and gave her first order to the new group, “Survive”. He was then led into a cart that then traveled for what felt like hours and he was thrown out of the cart with a small bag and a note attached to a map. When he took off the blindfold, he read the note which simply said to survive for one month and then to meet at a certain point to be picked up.
Throughout the next month, Lin’or had to learn how to hide from danger, how to hunt and cook what he hunted. There was also a small lake which he fished from and bathed in. He did not ever see any sign of the other recruits but he was able to make it to the pickup point at the right time. When he got there, he was surprised to see only two other recruits had made it. He then learned that the other recruits had either perished or gave up and were to be given “other” jobs in the clan. A few years later he came to understand what that truly meant.
After returning from the forest, he was put through the formal training under the special tutelage from the private tutors that his father employed as well as his family members. The training was brutal and the person he looked forward the least in regards to training and learning was his father’s training in the art of breaking people both mentally and physically, of which his father was an expert. Lin’or did not really care for any of it, though he passed the class with flying colors as was to be expected. Any time that his reports were anything but perfect, he would feel his father’s wrath, which he had not truly known before finding the clan.
His favorite training was learning how to become someone else. This class was taught by Kire’ny. He performed his best in this class simply because he looked up to his sister to the point of almost deifying her. When he joined her on a couple of her missions, he saw that she was elegant in almost every movement she made. She made sure that her target never suffered and that almost no one ever knew she was there, or rather, her persona that she was acting as. She never failed at her missions.
Unfortunately, when it came time for Lin’or to go on his first mission where he was the lead, there were unforeseen complications that were not anywhere near the level of what Lin’or could handle. Kire’ny took the fall for it though, since she was the one that was supposed to supervise his mission. Grendo did not take the failure well and decided that punishment was in order. “Failure will NOT be tolerated. Not even from my daughter, the next head of the clan. Especially, not from the next head.” These were his exact words before his two day long “punishment” began. Lin’or was forced to be present to witness the entirety of this punishment since it was his mission and “He should know that the cost of failure in this clan.”
Grendo went too far with his torture though. He did not give Kire’ny time to rest and heal a little. This caused her to not be able to take all of the punishment and she died on the second night. What chilled Lin’or to the core of his being, however, was how his father reacted to her death. He simply unlocked the chains holding her to the ceiling and let her body fall to the floor as he turned away and called for someone to “clean this mess up”. He then called Lin’or to his office and told him word for word, “Since your sister was obviously too weak to be able to bear such a small amount of torture. She would have brought shame to this house if she was allowed to be the next head of the clan. Therefore, you are now the heir to the clan.” Lin’or’s father, and much of the clan, then started to proceed as normal, to the point of even acting like Kire’ny never existed in the first place. Lin’or could not do this however and he began to plan.
Two weeks later, Grendo called him into his office once more. He then told Lin’or that he found the perfect noble wife for Lin’or to marry. Obviously put out by this statement, he tried to argue with Grendo but was immediately shot down saying that him marrying this noble would be for the good of the clan as her father was a very rich person of interest in a certain city. This person could open many doors for the clan and so Lin’or would marry this girl at whatever the cost.
Lin’or decided that it was time for him to enact his plan. With the help of his cousin’s, Lin’or snuck out of the city and onto the first boat leaving the island. He is sure that his father will notice eventually and will do his best to get him back in order to continue the family line and the proper order of things in the clan.

Manari and Uzuli, the raven and the crow, are the two most important beings, religiously, to the Bloody Raven clan. Both are worshiped and to both, the clan prays when they take a life for the person to receive safe passage to the next life. It is this reason for that the bloody feather is placed on the body of the one they killed. The feather is an apology to the person that they had to die, but also a gift for Uzuli to perhaps take pity on them. Some, like Lin’or’s grandmother, also give a little prayer to Rinsha, to watch over the poor soul.
Lin’or has thought about to which he should call his favorite, but never arrived at an answer. He still muttered the words like he was supposed to but never put any heart into it. After his father started to torture his sister, however, he called out to all three and more to save her with all of his heart whenever he was alone. His sister died though. He then thought that one of the three may have made a sick joke that to them, “saving her”, was the same as taking her out of this life. This thought filled Lin’or with rage, and from that moment on, he has rejected all of these so called “gods”. If none of them could not, or would not, keep something like that from happening to his sister, they then deserved no praise from him. All they would get is his scorn and curses.
As such, Lin’or does not view any of the gods as worthy, especially for the three who he views as betrayers. Those three he despises with his whole being.
