Beowa
Considered by many scholars as a primitive, barbaric people, the Beowa--pronounced BAY-o-wa--have in fact a highly stratified and intricate social structure, with a rich oral tradition dating back to the very beginning of humankind, the most direct line traceable to the Disjunction of Volition. They are, however, a notoriously brutal people; to live amongst the Giants--and undoubtedly having some Giantkin blood in their ancestry--the Beowa have reason to be savage by nature, often necessary for their survival in the harsh and perilous climes they call home. More than just one people, the Beowa are a group of many far reaching tribes--such as the Ten Tribes of Kromm--ranging the entire North of the Centerlands, from the highlands of Galdeum to the Skullcaps along the Shivering Sea, and beyond the Endless Forest to Feorleorn in the far east.
The Beowa are on average the largest Humans and uncommonly strong, especially the women. They are mostly fair skinned with straight red or blonde hair and blue eyes, but there is more variety in their appearance than the Koths or the Mirgash, for example. Often decorated with patterned tattoos specific to their tribe and calling, sometimes covering the entire body and face, most Beowa are imposing to behold. Accustomed to the savage lands of the North, the Beowa are consummate survivalists who rely heavily on herds for their sustenance, clothing, and shelter, and therefore have a natural affinity towards animals. Their language is the surprisingly soft and tonal Beowak, written with a form of the runic Dwarven Koraxicon and spoken with a dialect corresponding to their tribe, though most Beowas can understand each other even if from tribes located thousands of miles apart.
