Kitsune
The eldest race of humanoids with beastial features, these vulpine people have made their way into every facet of Nalchaa's civilization and are often regarded as clever, lazy, and religiously faithful. They're culture has generally based around worship of their two goddesses, Daikini and Amateratsu and their faith has remained strong after a deity's death, far more than religions dedicated to the elemental gods or any other deceased divine. The largest kitsune-centric settlement in the Empire is built at the base of Yoake Mountain where the grand shrine and worldly throne of Amateratsu are built. This town is built on the ground where the first kitsune built their tribal camp to live in Daikini's presence and enjoy the pleasures of a simple life eons ago. Kitsune are often seen as self-interested, unable to think beyond they're own family. When a kitsune finds a romantic partner, probably someone they feel is taking good care of their needs, they're very dedicated and emotional with that person. They see often others of their gender as suspicious threats & become jealous when their partner interacts with them.
A kitsune's hair is often a shade or red or yellow, but may sometimes be black or silver. Their eyes are often gold in color, but may come in other bright hues like olive green or sakura pink. A pair of foxlike ears rise high atop the head which may resemble red, arctic, fennec or any other fox species' ears. The fur on the ears and bushy tail almost always match the hair on their head. The tip of her tail may be white like a freshly dipped paint brush. As they grow in power a kitsune may grow additional identical tails.
Kitsune often take short human names, often referencing flowers, though some believe they have true names consisting simply of foxes noises.
Names include: Heather, Kayo, Izuna, Lily, Yuri, Ahri, and Bau.
