Amateratsu

One of the most popular and powerful deities, Amateratsu once commanded the unbridled full power of the sun and spread as much good as chaos. She was the first daughter born of Shān Gui in the early years of the world and as she gained control of the sun her worship & praise became immeasurable. Summer is her season and near all farmers worship her as well as countless laymen and holy warriors. Her followers built a great ziggurat as her temple atop Yoake Mountain where she has been worshipped for millennia. She was the giver of life, bane of evil, destroyer of all who stood in her way. She is the mother of Yorozu who is now Yamimaw, the creator of Daikini, and grandmother goddess to all kitsune. Amateratsu has had her detractors as well, the worst of all being Izanami whom she has quarreled with since the beginning of time. While the two have co-operated in dire circumstances Izanami has protested Amateratsu as being careless, selfish, and a fool while she herself has called the death goddess vile, petty, and obsessive. The two have clashed blades over their polar opposite personalities many times, resulting in much collateral destruction usually from Amaterasu's solar flairs.
The bitter rivalry between the two goddesses reached a climax that resulted in the First Epoch when Izanami's scheming deposed Amateratsu's protector, Susanoh, but she was betrayed and both women were slain, fed on, and resurrected under the control of the vampiric Nesidth. Amateratsu, now leashed by an astral chain, continued to be a widely beloved goddess, but the bulk of her power had been siphoned by the goddess of order who saw fit to turn the sun purple in her own honor. After the Second Epoch Yorozu, Amaterasu's beloved daughter, fulfilled her ancient prophecy and returned as Yamimaw to devour the sun just as she had been devoured millennia earlier. She did not resist being swallowed whole by the monster her child had become so while Nesidth slumbered and the other gods watched from their own realms the mortal plane was engulfed in an eclipse that lasted 19 years. Though Saint Quinniel saved the world from the dark ice age the sun is swallowed again every winter and remains blackened for 12 of the 20 months.

• Bonus: If a follower of the sun goddess is affected by a mental condition such as fear or panic and are within the light of a Daylight spell they may use a standard action to pray to Amateratsu and remove the effect. This renders them immune to the effect for 1 round.
