Xantorev was the first Mage of the world. He ate a Blood Crystal as a child and miraculously survived - this made some think of him as the chosen one. Magology was not advanced enough to do too much with his powers, but he was still respected among those that did not blame him for their relatives dying to swallowing Blood Crystals.
