The Stormspire
You see that statue over there, 'cross the plains? Ay, that's the Stormspire. You should come and see it in a storm, traveller, there's nothing quite like it!The Stormspire, located in the open, barren fields of Morhiels center, rises up a good 35 feet, constructed on a small hill. The statue is constructed in the likeness of Kord , the Stormlord, screaming with one axe raised high. Constructed during the 1st Era, the statue is comprised of magically infused iron and silver. The statue doubles as a lightning rod, the magic woven into the metal helps capture the electrical charge for longer, causing the silver axes and eyes to glow brightly.
Purpose / Function
The Stormspire was constructed to honour the local storm god, built on the place where he last stood upon the Material Plane. It acts as a remote shrine, and acts as a gathering point for festivals in his honour throughout Morhiel.
History
During the Dawn Era, when the gods still walked among mortals, the Stormlord had taken a liking to Morhiel, spending most of his time there. He drank, feasted and fought alongside the Morhiellians, becoming their patron god. When the gods made the pact to leave the material plane behind, Kord was forced to leave his people to face on oncoming demonic threat, alone.
According to local legend, he spent his last moments standing on this hill, giving a mighty speech to the gathered warriors, inspiring them and filling them with confidence they would be able to win this battle without him. In a burst of lightning, the god was gone, leaving only a scorched mark on the ground. Needless to say, the Morhiellians were victorious against the encroaching demons, and after the battle erected the Stormspire on the place he last stood, a monument to both the god and the great battle.
