Session 10: Festival of Change Report

General Summary

The sheriffs of Barovia leave the Abbey of Saint Markovia and head back down to the village of Kresk where they find the other villagers formed a mob and hung the Burgomaster's Wife and Son up from the large tree in the center of town. They feared Strahds further wrath upon the town so greatly they took futher steps to make sure he wouldn't be angry.
Their task done the party travels to Raven River Crossroads where Vassily and his black coach wait to give out their rewards. After the black coach leaves the area the children of Urwin Martikov come and warn the party of grave matters in Kresk.
The wachter brothers accidentally let out Rictavo's Sabertooth Tiger, as Rictavo was retrieving his monkey from his good friend Blinksy. All this just as Baron Vargas and Isek were coming to the square to pronounce the start of the festival. Enraged he puts Rictavo in the stocks for even having such a deadly crature in town. He arrests the Wachter brothers and issues a warrent for the arrest of the rest of the Wachter family for witchcraft and conspiring to commit treason against him. The Wacters to be burned at the stake.
The Sheriffs of Barovia run as fast as they can to get to Vallaki and stop the execution. DARK JADE CLOUD as Sheriff of Barovia has Strahd declare a warrent for Baron Vargas, so he can be dealt with legally. When they arrive at the square Baron Vargas is making his final proclamations with repeated uses of his All Will Be Well catachprase.
When the Baron refuses to accept Dark Jade's Authority, Dark Jade shoots him through the skull, ending his reign. The Baron's forces strike back in retaliation but are no match for the Sheriff and his squad along with the combined forces of Lady Wachters "Book Club". Later that evening Lady Wachter is declared the new Burgomaster of Vallaki and raised in rank to Baroness, obtaining all of Vargas' old lands in Vallaki and around Lake Zarovich.

• Granted the deed and care of the Abbey of St. Markovia.
• The Book of The Morning Lord encrusted with gold and rubies, its pages made of Vellum and illuminated. Contains prayers, sermons, and rituals.
• The Book of Mother Night containing practices and rituals. The pages are blank and the words only appear under the light of the full moon or for the half hour before and the half hour after midnight.
• 120 gold

DJ (Grygorovich):
• Deed to the abandoned house north/next door to Durst Manor
• Sheriff title and badge with the authority to root out and punish criminals.
• Warrants for the arrest of one Rudolph Van Richten and any known or suspected associates.
• Bounty notice on The Druids of Yester Hill (10 gold a head) for theft and destruction of property belonging to the people of Barovia. Collect payment from the Village Constable of Barovia.
• Bounty on Werewolves (10 gold a head).
• A small book of Barovian Laws.
