J'ru Desert

Geography

J'ru is a large desert, east of the Hornhill mountain range. It is specifically Hornhill that has caused this area to become a dry expanse through rain shadow. The mountain range causes clouds from the sea to release its moisture before it reaches the other side, therefore making it much dryer on that side.

The western edge of the J'ru is rocky, where the desert meets the mountain. It has more vegetation due to the small streams om water that runs down cliffs.

The rest of the desert is barren and full of sand. Dunes stretch as far as the eye can see, like waves on a stormy ocean.

Ecosystem

As harsh as the environment is, there are still organisms living here.

Localized Phenomena

Sandstorms are a common phenomenon in J'ru. The strong winds can kick up huge clouds of sand and create walls of it.

Climate

The climate is hot but dry, with the little moist coming in at night and in the very early morning. It is very steady,

Fauna & Flora

The few animals and plats that live here are well adapted to the climate. Plants have deep roots and special techniques to catch as much moist as possible. The animals either have a hard outside to shield them from the sun, or burrow underground during the day and hunt for food during the chilly nights.

The Gronzor is a lizard that lives in all of J'ru. They are quick footed creatures, and their tails are said to have healing powers. Luckily for the lizards, they can detach the tail if stressed enough.

One of the succulent plants that grow in the desert is the Capsule Collar . It is a low growing plant with round "leafs" that sit in a circle. They are filled with a gel that can be used for many different occasions, for example cooking and medicine.
