P'tin
Demographics
P'tin is a town at the western edge of the J'ru desert, and it is situated quite far from the more populated west coast where cities like Orebo have their harbor. Because of this isolation, there is not much of a mix in those who live here. Most of them are sand folk, but there are also some dwarven and elven folk from the mountains who have settled down here.
Government
The town is ruled by a family, the Mire. They are the wealthiest ones in P'tin and they have the most power and influence. The head of the family and the most notable member is the Mother, Miko. She has the majority of the power, even amongst the family members, and is very traditional and conservative in her leadership.
Defences
As the settlement is partly built in the mountain side, defending the innermost part of town is fairly easy. P'tin has some walls to the south, because the only road that comes to and from the place goes around the bottom of the mountains. To the north and east the desert does the defending for them.
Industry & Trade
P'tin exports some ore and stone from the mountains, but most of their income comes from the hunting and gathering of materials from J'ru. Some examples are hardy plants for weaving, parts of animals that go to medicines and decorations. P'tinians don't rely in export, they are mostly a self sufficient town.
Architecture
About half of this town sits inside the mountain, having been carved out of the rock. The architecture is sharp and many details are made as thin as possible. The buildings outside are also made of stone, but instead of being carved out of a rock, they are built by stone and bricks. The walls are thick to insulate from the desert heat, and the windows are small and few.
Geography
The Hornhill mountains sits on the west side of the city, making the terrain rocky and steep to that side. The J'ru desert stretches out to the north and east, with its rolling dunes. Due to hanging off the mountain side, P'tin has access to fresh water from brooks that have their origin in the mountaintops.
Climate
Because of the rain shadow due to the mountain range, most of the landscape is arid, but luckily not as dry as the open desert. There is also more shade and less wind in the town than out on the sands.
Natural Resources
Deeper in the P'tin cave, there are shafts that go even deeper inside the mountain - a small scale mine. P'tin also have access to plants and animals.
