Desert Lizardfolk

© DoStuffZ
Being the smallest of the lizardfolk. They are covered in hard, sharp-edged scales that help to protect them from their harsh environment. Over generations the hard access to water has made them conserve on certain elements such as size. They live in nomadic tribes that follow the movements of prey animals and storm clouds across the desert, constantly scrounging to survive. Because of their smaller size and weight, they are one of the most graceful varieties of lizardfolk, capable of moving through the desert sands with ease. However, they can also prove quite the opponent in bouts of strength.   Ability Score Increase: Dexterity score increase by 1.   Background: Desert Lizardfolk, smaller than their jungle and swamp-dwelling cousins, are adapted to the harsh desert environment. They sport hard, sharp-edged scales for protection and have become adept at conserving vital resources, like water. These nomadic tribes follow the movement of prey and storm clouds in the desert, relying on their agility and strength.   Design Notes: These Lizardfolk are particularly suited for roles as Rangers (Hunters and Trappers) and Rogues.   Sand Strider: Your claws and familiarity with sandy terrains allow you to move through them with ease. Sand, gravel, and similar particulate substances are not considered difficult terrain for you.   Home Sweet Home: You have an advantage on your chosen Hunter's Lore checks when operating in desert-type areas. This reflects your familiarity with and survival skills in arid environments.   Desert Born: You possess a natural adaptation to hot climates, as detailed in Chapter 5 of the Dungeon Master's Guide. Furthermore, you can thrive in locations with limited water access. Your daily water requirement is reduced to one-half gallon, rather than one gallon.   Unseen: With enough preparation time, you can dig yourself into the desert sand, allowing you to spring an ambush on unsuspecting prey. This unique ability can provide a tactical advantage when planning sneak attacks or ambushes.
