The Matchanist

The Matchanist most commonly refers to the Cafe' on Moreteer and, less commonly, the elusive Biata proprietor of said cafe'. The cafe' has been open for just over two years, while the proprietor has been a resident of Moreteer and has had the nickname "The Matchanist" for several years.

Experience

The Matchanist is a frequently busy establishment in the posher part of town that sells matcha as well as other less expensive and imported teas. All the matcha sold in the cafe' is from Fuji Seto 's factory on Moreteer. The brains and face behind the cafe' is Baara Windbloom , one of Fuji's matcha apprentices. She is a charismatic gnome who has become the face of The Matchanist brand because of Fuji's social reluctance to do so. Baara is an active manager who can often be found at The Matchanist during business hours. The cafe' also organizes deliveries throughout Moreteer. Carried out by The Matchanists local Delivery Dwarf Ariamir Blackheart. Deliveries can be scheduled for specific days of the week for either the morning or evening for either the already steeped teas or the leaves to steep yourself. For now, only wealthier individuals or organizations can afford it.
Very few other establishments offer the quality of tea The Matchanist does. However, coffee has been the beverage of choice for many years, is widely available and is much more affordable. Their biggest direct competitor is Gnomuccino (Gnome & cappuccino) which is a pretentious coffee shop at the end of the block.

History

The proprietor of The Matchanist cafe and the original "Matchanist" is Fuji, an older biata from The Kingdom of Dazan. A few years ago they found their way to Moreteer with their student, Kazuhiko, along with a good supply of green tea plant seeds, some green tea plant saplings, and some matcha.
When they arrived in Moreteer, Fuji found an opportunity to acquire a wealthy investor to invest in the production of matcha on Moreteer. With the energizing effects of coffee but without the jitters or crash, matcha quickly caught on as the go-to drink for the late night Tinkerer. Fuji had a heavy hand in the creation of the hydroponics and machinery to more quickly and efficiently produce matcha to try and keep up with the demand. This earned him the nickname "The Matchanist."
With the demand of matcha rising on Moreteer, Baara, one of Fuji's matcha apprentices, saw a business opportunity to create a cafe. Taking inspiration from her master's nickname, she created The Matchanist cafe with Fuji's blessing just over a year ago. The Matchanist cafe' has had great success and has helped further spread the popularity of Dazan matcha.
