Queen of the Red Collars Kunoria Toriori (a.k.a. Kuni)
Physical Description
Kuni has a well-defined muscular frame and is a towering, commanding figure. Her sleek, curving horns, piercing red eyes with slit pupils, and glossy black scales, all of which decorate her lovely feminine figure, show her draconic heritage. Despite having a significant limp due to a big scar on her left thigh, her overall strength and presence remain unaffected.
Kuni is towering and intimidating, with a well-defined muscular tone and an alluring feminine body, thanks to the years she spent living in the wilderness and depending on her draconic heritage and sheer power. However, many people are afraid or appalled by the Dulaagi's draconic features, especially those who have never seen or heard of them before.
Kuni has a strong, intimidating personality. Her face is framed by her long, disheveled white hair that falls to her shoulders. Her slit-pupil, captivating green eyes convey an intensity that is commensurate with her unwavering spirit. A pair of sleek, forward-curving horns that protrude from her temples further distinguish her unique appearance and allude to her draconic heritage. Her imposing presence is emphasized by these horns, which also serve as a constant reminder of her inner fortitude and resiliency.
Kuni's left thigh has a noticeable, deep scar that serves as a physical reminder of her previous injury. There is a noticeable limp as a result of the wound's poor healing. Although the injury has not significantly affected her combat technique and skill, it has had an effect on her mobility and speed. Even with this disadvantage, Kuni is still an expert fighter who uses her other advantages and modifies her tactics to offset the negative effects of the injury.
Due to her heritage as a black dragon's descendant, Kuni possesses a unique set of abilities that offer her distinct advantages in a variety of situations. Her ability to release a powerful stream of acid breath is one of her most remarkable abilities. This breath weapon damages targets that are in its path severely and projects in a straight line up to a distance of about 20 yards. Furthermore, Kuni has the powerful teeth and claws that she inherited from her draconic forebears, which allow her to be a dangerous threat even without a weapon.
Kuni has the ability to access a heightened state of aggression during challenging conflicts. She feels stronger, more resilient mentally, and has more endurance in this state. But her dexterity and grace are diminished, and her mental sharpness momentarily declines. Kuni's bite becomes especially dangerous during these fits of rage, as she tends to inflict wounds that cause profuse bleeding, maximizing the impact of her attacks.
Because of her increased ferocity, Kuni also has a higher pain threshold, which enables her to endure wounds that would render others incapable. But once the anger passes, she goes through a phase where she is tired and vulnerable, so she needs to take a break before fighting again.
Mental characteristics
Kuni was born in a human village located in Tendara. Her family's dormant draconic bloodline came alive as she approached adolescence, causing her to gradually take on the characteristics of a dragon. She was viewed as a monster by her parents and friends, who rejected and disparaged her instead of accepting her. With no other choice, Kuni chose to leave her village and go into the wilderness, where she had to rely on her natural weapons and brute strength to survive.
For a brief time, an elemental refuge took her in. She gained some knowledge of the powers bestowed upon her by her new draconic appearance there. She finally made the decision to leave the refuge and carry on living alone, though, since she felt uncertain there.
After a while, Kuni found the village of Little Oak Harbor, where the Legion of Valorhall, the town's leadership, greeted her warmly. She took part in an enrollment competition run by the Legion, and while she didn't rank first, she did make an impression on the Bruisers' Guild commander, who agreed to sponsor her. After that, Kuni was matched with an adventurer group, and she eventually grew close to Vriess Labhradha.
Among the many victories their group claimed was the double defeat of a Kobold tribe—once in life and once in undeath. They also saved a small town from a mysterious illness and warded off the undead in another town. But when they discovered the undead's origin—a dwarven ruin—their destiny changed. As they ventured into the dungeon's depths, they were ambushed by living shadows. After their teammate Flos died, Vriess betrayed them by turning into a mist and escaping through the hole they had used to enter, leaving Kuni and their other companion, Kierna, to perish.
Although she was much weakened, Kuni was able to vanquish the creatures. She could not have prevented being taken captive with her companion when a group of dwarven explorers from Korma came to seal the tomb. On their return to the dwarven realm, Kuni was given a red collar and sent to fight as a slave in the colosseum after her friend was handed away as a means of payment for passage. Kuni's strength and experience have elevated her to the forefront of the competition, despite her personal situation. She is, however, looking for the right moment to flee so that she can return to Little Oak Harbor and exact revenge on her former friend, who abandoned her to this fate.
After becoming a gladiator for a few months, Kuni realized she was expecting a child. Based on the timeline given, she deduced that Vriess had to be the father, having conceived shortly before their last adventure together.
To find out what fate had in store for her unborn child, she conferred with a few of the halfling servants she had become friends with. She was informed that her child would be born into slavery and taken from her because she was an enslaved gladiator. She could not let this occur, so in order to keep her child's freedom, she started to arrange for the child to be taken far from the Kingdom of Korma as well as to conceal her pregnancy.
After six months, Tyr'aria was secretly born as a human and separated from her mother and her birthplace. She was to grow up in an elemental refuge that her mother had once called home for a brief period of her youth.
Kuni recognizes herself as a woman and expresses her femininity in an individual manner. But she doesn't like when she's called by some feminine terms, which she believes imply weakness and fragility. Words like "lady" and other such terms may evoke stereotypes that Kuni finds restrictive and incompatible with her strong will and independence.
On the other hand, Kuni values being called "ma'am" when it is meant to respect her authority. This phrase describes her self-assured and assertive personality. In her opinion, this term does not reinforce gender stereotypes; rather, it speaks to her self-assurance and competence. Kuni challenges social norms and asserts her individuality in a way that is consistent with her values by rejecting some feminine terms and accepting others.
Kuni is a confident and assertive person who enjoys having intimate relationships and embraces her sexuality. She tends to pursue physical connections without the need for romantic attachments and is unapologetic about her desires. When it comes to seeking out possible partners for intimate encounters, Kuni is often forthright and direct in expressing her interest.
Although Kuni finds pleasure in the sensual aspects of relationships, she is not drawn to the romantic aspects that many others are drawn to. She is not particularly interested in or focused on long-term relationships or emotional connections. She prefers to stay in charge of her own life and decisions, especially those pertaining to intimacy, because she values her independence.
Kuni's straightforward and honest approach to her sexuality is a reflection of her self-assured and confident nature. She respects her own boundaries and choices while embracing her desires and seizing opportunities for physical contact when they present themselves.
Before her life took an abrupt change, Kuni received her schooling in her hometown, where she was given a solid foundation in knowledge. Her pursuit for knowledge was unexpectedly cut short as a dulaggi when she was transformed into a draconic form. She was eventually banished as a result of this major alteration that isolated her from her community.
Sadly, Kuni's banishment caused her schooling to end prematurely and prevented her from pursuing further intellectual growth in her society. She was unable to obtain more educational resources and help because of the rejection she experienced from her people as a result of her draconic nature.
Even with the break in her formal schooling, Kuni has learned and grown in unexpected ways from her adventures and interactions with many places and civilizations. Through direct experiences, she has gained practical skills, survival instincts, and a profound grasp of the world.
Despite not having had a formal education, Kuni has made up for it by being resourceful and self-taught, always looking to learn new things and developing her skills via interactions with the outside world and hands-on experience. Through perseverance and flexibility, she has overcome challenges to keep learning and developing.
Kuni's journey as an adventurer took a significant turn when she joined the
Legion of Valorhall. It was within this esteemed group that she found a sense of belonging and acceptance for the first time since her transformation into a
Dulaagi. The camaraderie and shared purpose of the Legion provided Kuni with a supportive environment where her skills and unique abilities were valued.
During her time with the Legion, Kuni experienced numerous successful adventures, honing her combat prowess and gaining recognition for her remarkable abilities. However, her life took a dark and unexpected turn when she was betrayed, left for dead, and subsequently captured by slavers. This cruel twist of fate thrust her into a new and challenging chapter of her life.
Currently, Kuni finds herself working as a red-collar gladiator in the renowned Colosseum of Korma. Her formidable skills, honed through years of wilderness survival and combat experience, have made her an almost unbeatable opponent in the arena. The combination of her combat prowess and her striking and exotic appearance has made her a valuable asset, ensuring that she is unlikely to ever be risked as a black-collar fighter.
Personality Characteristics
Kuni's current motivation is to stay alive in the arena and to find a way to escape. Ultimately, she wants to return to her life in the Legion and get revenge on Tyr. Kuni's determination to survive in the arena stems from her burning desire to find a way out and reclaim her freedom. Her ultimate goal, however, extends beyond mere survival as she yearns to reunite with her comrades in the Legion and exact vengeance upon Tyr, the one responsible for her current predicament.
Kuni derives pleasure from training and refining her combat skills, as well as collecting and studying unique weapons. She particularly enjoys proving herself to opponents who underestimate her and relishes being in control of her own fate. Solitude in the wilderness provides her with a sense of peace and tranquility.
On the other hand, Kuni harbors a strong dislike for being perceived as a monster and being treated with fear and revulsion. She dislikes being undervalued or patronized by others because it diminishes her accomplishments and skills. Excessive rules and restrictions suffocate her independent spirit. Moreover, she has a disdain for excessive displays of sentimentality or vulnerability, preferring to maintain a resilient and composed demeanor.
Kuni exhibits an unyielding determination to survive and overcome her current predicament. She refuses to allow her circumstances to shatter her spirit, maintaining a resilient attitude even in the face of immense adversity. Despite the noticeable scar and resulting limp, Kuni never hesitates to confront danger directly, demonstrating her fearlessness. Her unwavering courage drives her to take risks and defend both herself and those around her. Through years of wilderness survival and rigorous training in the Legion, she has honed her skills, making her a formidable combatant. She excels in close-quarters combat, relying on her deep understanding of her own strength and capabilities.
Having spent significant time in the wilderness, Kuni has developed resourcefulness and adaptability. She possesses the ability to make the most of any situation, utilizing her surroundings to her advantage and employing creative problem-solving techniques. Her experiences have shaped her into a resilient and versatile individual, capable of navigating and thriving in challenging environments.
Kuni's deep-seated thirst for vengeance against Tyr profoundly influences her actions and occasionally clouds her judgment. Her overwhelming desire for revenge can drive her to take unnecessary risks and become single-minded in her pursuits, potentially compromising her overall decision-making process. Kuni's stubborn nature and resistance to change make it challenging for her to accept help or guidance from others, as she strongly values her self-reliance. Even when assistance could potentially benefit her, she may reject it out of a need to maintain control.
Emotions play a significant role in Kuni's life, sometimes leading to impulsive behavior or decisions. Her strong feelings can overpower her rational thinking, causing her to act before fully considering the consequences or evaluating the situation thoroughly. Past experiences of betrayal have left Kuni wary and hesitant to trust others easily. She approaches new alliances and friendships with caution, maintaining a skeptical outlook on people's intentions. This wariness can make it difficult for her to forge new connections or develop a sense of trust, as she remains guarded to protect herself from potential harm.
Kuni is sensitive about her prominent scar and the resulting limp, and she prefers not to draw attention to it or discuss its origins. When others bring up the subject or inquire about it, she may become defensive or uncomfortable, as it reminds her of a vulnerable aspect of her past. Kuni places a high value on solitude, and she finds comfort in solitude and the peace of the wilderness. She appreciates observing her surroundings and taking in the subtle sounds of nature, often finding it more meaningful than engaging in idle chatter.
Kuni enjoys gathering and learning about unique weapons. She is enthralled by the artistry and historical importance behind them and enjoys exploring and discovering each one's unique tale. Kuni possesses a sharp wit and a knack for sarcasm, which she often employs as a defense mechanism or to deflect uncomfortable situations. She can deliver biting remarks with a dry sense of humor, using her quick tongue as a shield or a means to lighten tense moments. Her wit adds an element of sharpness and depth to her interactions with others.
History
During their time as adventuring companions in the Legion of Valorhall, Kuni and Vriess developed a close bond. They provided each other with companionship and even shared intimate moments together on multiple occasions.
However, a critical situation arose where one of their companions tragically lost their life. In that moment, Vriess made the fateful decision to abandon Kuni in order to save himself. This act of betrayal has caused Kuni to harbor intense resentment towards him and fuels her desire for revenge. Meanwhile, Vriess believes that Kuni is no longer alive. While he experiences some guilt, masked by a self-centered mentality of "better you than me," he has dismissed any possibility of reuniting with her due to her presumed demise. Nevertheless, deep down, he still carries a lingering desire to rekindle their past relationship.
Throughout her illustrious adventuring career, Kuni had managed to accumulate a significant amount of wealth. Her keen eye for valuable and unique items led her to amass a collection of interesting and magical weapons acquired during her journeys. These items held sentimental value to her, representing her triumphs and the challenges she had overcome.
Unfortunately, upon being captured and enslaved by the dwarven adventurers, Kuni was stripped of her possessions, including the equipment she held dear. The dwarves claimed her belongings as their own, leaving Kuni unsure of the fate of her wealth and treasures. With the assumption that the Legion of Valorhall had marked her as deceased, Kuni is left wondering whether her hard-earned fortune has been lost or perhaps even claimed by others.
