ADDER (Asteroid and Debris Defense Emergency Response)

ADDER's defense strategy involves fr texting and then intercepting incoming asteroids or space debris with precisely targeted missiles. By altering an asteroid's trajectory or breaking it apart into smaller, less hazardous pieces, ADDER can mitigate the impact risk to cities and colonies. The system's realtime tracking and predictive algorithms enable it to respond swiftly to evolving threats.

Utility

A distant descendant of the Patriot and Iron Dome missile defense systems of old Earth, ADDERs are common throughout the asteroid belt. They are strategically placed either directly next to colonies or on nearby asteroids with more stable orbits and possess advanced detection and prediction systems that allow them to target and destroy rogue debris that would otherwise possibly have collided with an important structure. While these machines are expensive to maintain and supply, it is well worth the cost due to the many many lives they have saved cumulatively over time.

Manufacturing

The largest user as well as primary original inventor of ADDER systems, the Theocratic Vestal Hierocracy tries to produce as many missiles themselves to supply these defense stations as possible to allow for more independence from the inner planets, but the sheer manufacturing power of the New Earth Global Alliance and subsequent cost of their products is often too tempting to pass up on, resulting in around 2/3 of the defense missiles used to originate on Earth.
