Betrayers

It is a collective name given to all those who willingly joined the ranks of the Disciples. While they are frowned upon by all of the captives and the ones who needed to suffer much more before being forced to join the forces of Chaos, they are also granted many privileges. As they are one of the few people within the legions of the Disciples with information about Deuslair, they often lead armies or work as advisers.   Many of the Betrayers come from lands overwhelmed by the dark tide of the Disciples, their homes razed and futures stolen. Others are captives, wrenched from the remnants of resistance and presented with a grim choice: join or perish. Their initiation is devoid of ceremony, marked only by the stark reality of their situation—a blood oath taken not out of zeal, but survival, an echo of the bleakness that has colored their lives.

Structure

Once folded into the ranks of the Disciples, the Betrayers are often thrust into roles of reluctant leadership or advisory positions, their intimate knowledge of their former homes turned into tools of conquest. They lead battalions into battle against neighbors and kin, their strategic insights tempered by the iron necessity of their new reality. Despite their utility, they tread a precarious path, trusted by neither their overlords nor those they command.

Culture

The Betrayers are pariahs twice over—once for their allegiance to the Disciples and again for the homes they have forsaken. They dwell in the margins of both societies, regarded with suspicion and resentment by their new allies and considered traitors by their former compatriots. Their existence is a daily gauntlet of mistrust and disdain, their every decision scrutinized and their every motive suspected.
