Dakn

Dakn, the Frozen Moon, remains motionless in the skies above Devorn, as it has since the Great Unshackling. Dakn once had a cycle and rotated across the night sky just as its twin Daw still does. Every night Dakn shines a dull white light onto the surface of Devorn, the intensity of the light constant and never changing. At one point prior to the Unshackling calendars of various cultures of Devorn used Dakn as a guide for three season long months. Other names for Dakn include: The Damaged Child, the White Tear, and the Broken Cycle.
Over the centuries following the Unshackling, Dakn has become associated with mystery, darkness, and the unknown. Dakn is important to worshippers of Dullesa, Goddess of the Midnight Star and to practitioners of occult practice who believe that power can be drawn from the Frozen Moon. Priests of many Gods believe that certain rituals and curses are more powerful if performed under the light of only Dakn, while Daw is in New. Giving thanks to Dakn is also a common practice amongst those investigating subjects or hunting criminals, as the constant light does make it harder to hide during the night.
Dakn is intrinsically linked to the monsters of Devorn and the strange braying howls of creatures can be heard when Daw is in New, or close to it. This often makes citizens wary of travelling the more remote roads of Devorn during these 8 day periods.
