Poplem

The diluted venom of a Poplar Grit spine injected into the blood using a Glass Spine Needle. It creates a euphoric sedation and strong analgesic effect.

Medical Uses

Poplem can be used as a sedative and a painkiller. It also has a euphoric element to the sedation. Because of it analgesic effect the Yenari Empire military quickly adopted it to treat battlefield wounds. Healer across Greater Yenaria have adopted it as a painkiller especially useful for amputations and other surgeries.

Recreational Uses

However, Poplem has also became used as a recreational drug, and several healers have opened Poplem Parlors. These parlors have become particularly popular in Delfi. There have been several reported deaths from poplem overdose and recently the Yenari Empire declared poplem parlors illegal and have cracked down on the practice.

While Debon Trager initially thought that the invention of Poplem could be used as a sedative and pain killer. When he tested it on himself he quickly became a proponent of its use as a euphoric.
Discovery
Poplem was discovered in 4501 by Debon Trager. He invented the Glass Spine Needle and showed that it could be used to precisely inject liquid directly into the veins of a creature. After experimenting with dogs, he tried it on himself and found out about the euphoric effects.
