Ambush in Gaffers Street

The Ambush in Gaffer Street was the first "official" crime fighting mission of the at this point unnamed vigilante team assembled by Lucas Cross.

The Conflict

Prelude

After recruiting Samantha Miller and Natasha Torlopova into his vigilante team, Lucas Cross organised patrols through The Harbour and The Gutters. At first, these saw little to no success, leaving the team somewhat frustrated and demotivated.

Battlefield

The ambush took place in Gaffers Street after the trio spotted two vans that were trying to remain undetected downn the street. Identifying them as criminals and members of @The Crew[organisation], the team moved to engage and capture them in the middle of the street.

The Engagement

Astraeus began the fight by creating a barrier in the middle of the street that would block the path of the two vans. Breaking at the last possible moment, Vandal then engaged a gang member that left the car, slamming him into the side of the van and breaking his spine in the process. Black Cat remained in hiding, while Astraeus moved to sabotage one of the cars. As the rest of the criminals moved in to engage Vandal and rescue their injured comrade, the battle quickly devolved into an all-out brawl. Feeling the tables turn on them, multiple gang members of the Crew tried to escape, but were stopped by Vandal and Astraeus.

Outcome

The ambush lead to the arrest of all of the involved criminals when the team secured drugs hidden in the vans. They also acquired information about the location of one of the gang hideouts, but found it abandoned, its inhabitants having been warned by one of the thugs that managed to escape.

Aftermath

When video footage of  the incident emerged online, accusations of the use of undue force arose against the vigilante team, in particular Vandal. This lead to some view the team as outright rogues, doubting the sincerity of their actions and forced much harsher reactions from the Sanctioned supers upon future encounters. The Crew also declared the team as one of their enemies shortly thereafter.
