History

Founded by businessman Richard Cross in 1913 as Cross Oil after the discovery of oil fields southwest of Port Joan, the company quickly made a fortune in the oil trade, soon expanding into fuel production proper.   After the Great Depression, the company expanded into the coal business to diversify its product range.   The company played a crucial role in the supply of the U.S. Navy during World War 2.   After the war, as the new technology became available, Cross Oil, now rebranded Cross Energy expanded further, this time investing into nuclear energy. In the late 1950s, the company became traded at the stock market.   Over the following decades, they would acquire various smaller energy companies all across the States and even outside of the U.S..   Beginning with the late 90s the company also began to invest into renewable energies and research for new sources of energy, such as nuclear fusion.
