General Physical Condition
Joel Cross is a tall, imposing man with a mustache, with black, greying hair and brown eyes. While he has a friendly face, he can look rather scary when glaring.

Joel was born in 1975, the son of businessman Amos Cross, the heir apparent to Cross Energy Holdings, back then still controlled by Richard Cross Jr.. Richard had a strong influence on how young Joel was raised, insisting he be sent to a Christian boarding school for most of his youth, which lead to estrangement from his father, his main contact with his family being his mother and his younger sister Maria Cross, with both of whom he traded letters frequently.
After initially struggling at school, Joel eventually became a good student and graduated with a major in finance at the end of his education, as per his father's wishes. During his college years, Joel was also part of a student theater company. It was here that he first met his future wife Judie Mallory. They became formally engaged in 2000 and married a year later.
Following his grandfather's death, he took up a junior executive position in CEH alongside his father who now served as president and CEO. His increasing self-confidence often left him to clash with his father over the decisions made in regards to the company. Their relationship only would only mend towards the end of Amos' life, when he began to retire from many positions in the company.
In 2013, he became president of Cross Energy Holdings and has run the company ever since. His style of leadership has been marked by a focus on modern technology and 'future-proofing' many businesses that the holding is involved in.

He is a responsible, but shrewd businessman. Never beyond accepting advice, but with no room left for opposition once he decides upon something, he can be a very domineering person. Expects a lot from those around him, but is also a hard worker himself. Never takes things for granted, but will got far to get his will. Rather conservative and religious.

Joel is a big fan of the theater, frequently watching productions in Cape St. Joan and even other states. A devout Christian, Cross is also a big supporter of local churches and many of their charities.
He is not fond of Supers, being an outspoken opponent of privatisation of law enforcement. He has endorsed politicians in favour of stricter super-regulation at multiple turns.
