Personal history

Taysir grew up in an orphanage in Um'bark run by Frances DeLorde. They became fast friends with Frances' daughter Marvella DeLorde and would practice sword fighting with her father. When Taysir was sixteen, they left the orphanage to search out their birth parents and learn more about their heritage. Their travels led them to join various mercenary groups over the years, their line of work coincidentally causing them to once again cross paths with their childhood friend. Taysir and Marvella worked together on several missions and grew closer, until Marvella retired from adventuring to help raise her sister in the wake of their parents' death.   While on a quest into the ruined city of Arathoxia, Taysir and their party were attacked by Quyrucz warriors. Taysir managed to escape into the city's subterranean tunnels while the dragonborn captured or killed the rest of their party. Hiding in the ruins, whispers began to creep into Taysir's mind, urging them to explore deeper within the ruined city toward the buried temple of an ancient cult. Within the temple, the genasi found ancient records from the Divine Aeon, their incomplete pages tattered from millennia of neglect.   The whispers in their mind filled in these gaps, recounting to Taysir how the Primordial Titans sought to enslave the world and imprisoned the gods who stood against them. Taysir read and listened to how the Ishtarla were once the keepers of the sacred temple of Istishia'jilad, but the  titans sent sea giants to slaughter Taysir's ancestors, whom they saw as a threat to their power. With every passage and whisper that filled their mind, Taysir fell further under the influence of Tharizdun.   Taysir emerged from the ruins after the dragonborn had left and made their way back to civilization, where they happened to run into their old friend Marvella. The tiefling invited Taysir to join her newly-formed travelling carnival. They jumped at the opportunity to reunite with their old friend and saw this as an opportunity to seek out the primordial temples imprisoning their new master. When the time came for the carnival to leave Zandrazil, it was Taysir who convinced the rest of their troupe that they should head to Sekajota, where Taysir knew another primordial temple was hidden.   While in Sekajota, Taysir noticed the change overtaking Luna DeLorde. They recognized their master's influence at work and opted to help spur it along. Luna was very trusting of Taysir, whom her sister had spoken fondly of on several occasions, and she would constantly ask them questions about their adventures around Zandrazil. Taysir indulged the curious girl, telling her stories of kings and gods oppressing the people, and the heroes that defied them. They painted a picture of an unjust world ruled by tyrants where heroes like them were destined to topple kings and despots.   When Luna finally came to Taysir and admitted Tharizdun had visited her in her dreams, the genasi was ecstatic. Their master had given Luna the second piece of the puzzle; a hidden temple beneath the Hokken city of Kugane. Taysir believed the two of them could sway her sister into joining their cause and tasked Luna with approaching Marvella about their plans to free the chained god. Late one evening, following Marvella's confrontation with Luna, she approached Taysir asking what they knew about her sister's madness. Taysir feigned ignorance and consoled a distraught Marvella, but the discussion convinced Taysir they had overplayed their hand.   The carnival departed from Kugane without Luna, and Taysir became increasingly paranoid that their role in worsening the younger DeLorde's madness would be discovered. While on a ship bound for the Wandering Isles, Taysir received an arcane message from Luna instructing them to keep going with their plans to steer the carnival toward each of the temples while she handled the situation in Sekajota. She also let them know which other members of the carnival had fallen under Tharizdun's influence.
