The 3rd Embry's Fall

The 3rd Embry's Fall was a brief but bloody war 65 years ago, where the 4th Embry performed a coup on the corrupt 3rd Embry. While tensions had been boiling for many years over a series of proclamations that the 3rd Embry had levied unilaterally, known as the Licenses, the final straw was The Fifteenth License, otherwise known as the Culling of the Clockwork. This License, in brief, detracted heavily from the rights of the Jhalspawn , ordering for a tenth of their population to be executed and the rest to be enslaved in to servitude as both workhorses and meatshields for the military might of the 3rd Embry. This was the log that broke the camel's back, and a violent resistance swiftly rose up to tear down the 3rd Embry.   While many of the pockets of resistance were relegated to riots in each of the districts, many populated by a mix of the Jhalspawn and the rest of the population, they would've likely been quelled had not one pocket of resistance become increasingly vocal. Calling themselves The 4th Embry, their very name was an act of treason, which the other riots rallied behind even as the 3rd Embry tried to suppress them. Gaining the support of The Bank of Doreymos and the secretive Order of Djan, the 4th Embry was able to coordinate the riots in to a full-on attack against The 6th District where the 3rd Embry was based, and in a week-long battle ousted the leadership, installing themselves as interim leaders while they tried to organize a more democratic government instead. However, the 4th Embry eventually grew to fill the hole they were trying to patch, leading to them becoming the successors to the 3rd Embry truthfully.
