Gnomes
Gnomes, contrary to halflings, draw their heritage from the elves, as one might conclude from looking at their longer ears, sharper facial features, and generally leaner bodies. After the elves, gnomes are one of the longest lived races in the world, often living well over half a millennium, if they can avoid blowing themselves to bits before that. Standing a shade over three feet tall, they are just a touch shorter than their halfling countrymen. Their skins are an array of tans, browns, and even some light pinks and purples, with eyes virtually any color imaginable. It is difficult to identify what colors of hair gnomes naturally have, as it is their custom to dye their hair and beards diverse, vibrant colors, changing hues frequently. But gnomes are by far best known for their artifice. Gnomish engineering is a feat of science and magic intertwined to make whatever they might dream up. These dreams are often outlandish, impractical, and quite frankly dangerous, especially to the dreamer themself. But invention is at the core of gnomish culture, and when one of their own successfully completes a project they are celebrated by the community.
