Elstra
Elstra is a large town along the west coast of Draigenmore that acts as a midpoint between K'ylln and Somershire . Rottenburg is also about halfway between these two hubs, but only Elstra has a coast line, making it a large shipping hub for all of Draignemore as well as for Breland and ships heading north to Northland and ships heading south to K'ylln and Solasta .
As such, the town has a large waterfront district, called The Shallows . So named because of the lower elevation near the coast as the rest of the town rises up fairly quickly. Not only situated on the coast of the White Sea , Elstra is also at the mouth of the Elstra River which is used to ship goods inland to Lagenburg and Helmstadt . The Shallows runs along the White Sea and then also along the south bank of the Elstra River. The Shallows is also known for its shady gambling halls and taverns--as well as shipping companies and suppliers.
The rest of the town is made up of the Market District, the Nook, and the Northside. The Market District is the home of a wide variety of shops, inns, and taverns, as well as some housing. The Nook is the home of more lower income housing and dock workers, as well as--as the name implies--hidden nooks of the city to find the wonderous and strange. It is a popular location for wizard's homes as well as the Devil's Tree Sword & Sorcery Mercenary Company. The Northside is the home of Castle Elstra as well as the more well to do nobles and wealthy merchants of the town.
Elstra is currently ruled over by Baron Heinrich Veedt. Veedt ousted Baroness Luna Kurstan from power in 1454 citing a claim to the title that went back four generations. There is a widespread belief that this documentation is faked, but it was enough for K'ylln, who supported his rule. Kurstan escaped the city and drew to her a large group of loyal subjects--guards, nobles, townspeople--who have fought for her against Veedt for the last year. Veedt has kept this rebellion relatively quiet as Kurstan and her followers disrupt his town and businesses, and has so far kept the faith of K'ylln in his rule.
