Vy26 Rifle

The Vy26 Rifle is a semi-automatic rifle that uses 7.92x57mm Ivaruna rounds. It was designed to replace the Vy4 Rifle, offering a higher rate of fire while using the same ammunition and loading similarly.   The designation Vy26 means that it was adopted in the 26th year of the rule of Valérie Marková.   It was designed during The Bloodmarch in order to multiply the capabilites of their infantry.  The old rifle had a capacity of only 5 rounds in a fixed magazine.  This new design had a detactable magazine that usually had a 10 round capacity, but there was also a 20 round capacity magazine available.  The larger capacity magazine was more prone to malfunctions so the 10 round was the most widely used during the war.  The issues with the larger magazines were not sorted out until after the war was over.  The rifle also had a clip bridge mounted on the rifle so a user could also reload the rifle using the strip clips of the old rifle instead of changing magazines.  This was done primaily for logistical reasons as there were far more Vy4 Rifles in the field then Vy26's and production was not fast enough to keep up with demand.   Due to the efficiency of the existing production lines for the Vy4 and the heavy attrition of equipment that The Bloodmarch placed on the Valkynd army, production of the old rifle was not stopped until after The Treaty of Gelaea was signed.
