Chieftain's Perch

Located near the top of the “floating” city is a massive conglomerate of pods strung between the center most rock pillar and two auxiliary rock pillars. The outermost pods appear to be arranged in a neat ring. The exterior walls are only half walls with large open windows – devoid of glass – to allow both air and sunlight to flow into the interior. Each of the outer pods also has an open doorway without a door or hanging rug. A large wooden beam extends outwards from the entrance, a perch for those of avian variety. Small terracotta like globes hang from a thin metal rigging supported by string adorned with beads and feathers. The globes have been carved with triangular patterns that allow light from small bits of Villám to shine through, creating a beautiful array of patterned light when the night falls.

A rope bridge links one of the main walkways of the city to one of the entrances. The polished wooden planks are thick, sturdy, and solid with almost no signs of wear and tear. Three sets of thick, heavy rope intertwine as they cross the entire span of the bridge to provide support. Villám lamps are supported by wooden posts throughout while more hang underneath the bridge. Hanging beneath the Chieftain’s Perch is a meshwork of dangling branches, logs, vines, nets, ropes, and swings below with multiple children darting apart while some older individuals lounge nearby, swinging lethargically as they talk and gesture.
Once inside, the Foyer is incredibly spacious with some feather-filled pillows to sit upon with low-set tables adorned with various plates of snacks and other foods. During the day, aarakocra can be found flying in and out, coming and going as they please, pausing for a moment to sit on a pillow before flying out again. Multiple other doorways lead towards the interior of the space and only one is blocked by a very thick, heavy decorated woven tapestry. The tapestry depicts an aarakocra figure with wings tipped in sunlight, the sun behind her, and a sun pendant around her neck. The background depicts the sky and multiple other smaller avian figures. The other doorways are unblocked and reveal a small library, various sitting spaces, a dining hall and kitchen, a nursery, and various other amenities. Despite being the Chieftain’s perch, it feels very much like a community center.
Beyond the thick tapestry lies a relatively large, spacious room. Large wooden beams are placed evenly around the circular space. The bottom half of the walls are composed of vertical panels of vibrant wood while the rest has been painted in an ombre of sky blue to white, to yellow, and finally, to orange. Glancing upward, tapestries and decorative pieces composed of terracotta-like material, beads, and feathers are hung from thick ropes. The entire center of the space stretches upward – through two more floors – to a sunroof that allows the natural light to flood the entire space, despite not having windows on the main floor. A raised dais, no more than half a foot tall rests at one end of the room. Upon it rests an elevated wooden perch and a large white pillow with sky blue decorations. A multitude of similar large pillows and wooden perches are arranged through the room. It appears like a meeting or discussion space.

Tuari's Monument

There is only one location positioned higher than the Chieftain’s perch: Tuari’s monument and memorial. The top of the rock pillar has been carefully painted – and repainted over the years to repair the wear and tear from weather – to depict the iconic image of the Elian hero, Tuari. A small wooden walkway arranged with protruding perches allows avian and non-avian folk alike to appreciate the artwork while basking in the sun or moonlight. Villám lamps have been arranged to provide the optimal lighting for viewing at night.
In the depiction, Tuari stands with only four braids. The archer stands proud, bow and quiver strung on his back as he offers a cut braid to a large draconic figure. Behind Tuari, another aarakocra hovers with one hand on the hero’s shoulder. Her wings are tipped in the sun and summon forth clouds. The draconic figure matches no known draconic type, but the moon behind him makes the association clear.

The Chieftain's Children

  1. Chatot – A gray aarakocra who hopes to be a Light Master one day. Mr. Rowbyn is so cool. Imagine what I could do with ALL THAT Villám!
  2. Vaella – Did you know there used to be sky whales? I wonder what happened to them... I want to see a whale one day. Even a normal water one would be cool.
  3. Jhera – The most fashionable young pre-teen aarakocra. Is it true that no one wears Elian fashion outside the Anwar-Dai? That's a shame.
  4. Tzazz – A very round aarakocra who enjoys battle strategy. He used to talk about history and strategy with his dad before the Hunter's sickness took him. He wants to perfect the "Stone Drop" technique, where he drops from the sky and knocks out his enemies.
