Session 2

General Summary

Rani, Newt, and The Widow have elected to participate in the Great Hunt and found themselves searching for a great elk within the vast expanse of the Antiek'Vee Forest. Although Rani is quite in tune with nature, the forest is a vastly different environment from the Dune Sea of Lark'Hal. Newt is just enjoying the clean air for once. On the first day in the woods, the trio encountered a young bear cub caught in another hunters trap. With brute strength and amazing biceps, Rani pried open the trap, releasing the bear cub back to the forest. Only moments after pocketing the trap for themselves did the trio realize that two of them had crowbars.   Near sundown, the two hunting hounds burst from the underbrush, followed shortly after by the familiar shifter hunting party led by Ilya and Nadia. Accepting their offer to camp together for the evening, conversation was exchanged over the fire. Despite expressing a concern that Nadia might stab him in his sleep, The Widow seemed to enjoy antagonizing her. Ilya shared a popular tale in her region: the Champion Vadaz (The Legend of Vadaz).   On the second day, the trio noticed a speck of white darting through the trees. Feeling confident, Newt dive-bombed it, but it slipped through his grasp before he slammed into the ground. Following the white stag, they were led to a secluded pool of water. Offering a prayer to Oshozi, Rani chose to drink from the spring.   On the third day, the trio began following an old set of elk tracks. However, after 2 hours following them, they were distracted by a familiar sensation - a tugging. A deer, in the middle of a ring of brambles, was devouring a small creature - blood dripping from its lips. When it looked up, it's eyes had been replaced by swirling black pools of nothingness. While they appeared to have generally the same combat prowess as a regular old deer, there was something a bit off about these. Engaged with one, the Widow fell and was subsequently killed right before the final creature was dispatched.   The True Followers (Wildmen) of Oshozi emerged from the treeline. Their leader - a human woman named Yemaja - rushed the Widow to the secluded spring. Oshozi held Ah'Shal at bay, allowing another god to set foot within his domain. The Widow was successful brought back.   At the camp of the True Followers, Yemaja provided you with information on the creatures. Odd behavior was first noticed a couple of months ago, but the insatiable hunger is relatively new. She is uncertain if it's possible if this could progress to humanoids. She was also uncertain how the woman - The Widows "Lady of the Night" - is connected to these creatures. They have not identified the source, but they plan to move to the are of the Old Temple and clear it out. While she highly doubts the Old Temple is the source, it is imperative to clear out the area as pilgrimages increase between the Great Hunt and the Great Harvest.   And no, none of them have seen that weird four-armed creature.   Before departing, Yemaja mentioned to Rani that - at least in Oshiv'Ran - animal companions are believed to be reincarnated loved ones. She then sent Talon to guide the party back to the elk tracks, which they followed easily. After finding the great elk, the trio easily dispatched it and began the trek back to the city.   In route back, The Widow picked up some super swag blue shrooms and these snazzy white shrooms.   Back in Oshiv'Ran, The Widow headed straight to the bar. Newt also found his way to the bar after a quick perimeter sweep and antagonizing the aarakocra. Rani purchased a traditional shifter style necklace for her sister.   During the closing ceremonies, a sense of foreboding death settled over the crowd. Two other individuals appeared to also be on edge: Noel and the aarakocra. Shortly after, the "Lady of the Night" and her masked companion appeared on the stage, knife poised to take out the High Priest. Acting quickly, the Widow froze the assassin, Newt knocked down the assassin, and Rani moved the High Priest. Aggravated at the unexpected interference, Rani and Newt heard a threat from a feminine voice in their heads before the duo vanished once again.

Rewards Granted

  1. Pendant of Oshozi - A necklace composed of beautifully carved wooden beads with depictions of nature hung from a woven strand of twine. Nestled between the beads is a carved wooden stag head painted white. The necklace emanates a faint sense of warmth.
  2. Sealed Writ of the Temple of Oshozi - a roll of parchment sealed with wax. You can present this writ to any shopkeep in the region and obtain an item of your choosing for free - per the Temple. You can, alternatively, request the Temple obtain an item of your choosing - so long as it is possible for them to obtain. Once the seal is broken, the writ cannot be used.

Congratulations, you obtained the Great Elk and won the Great Hunt!  You managed to stop an assassination attempt on High Priest Osoosi Oshozi.

Missions Received

  After successfully stopping the attempt on his life, High Priest Osoosi has made the following request of you:
  1. Travel to the shunned clan of Magaso'Fa on the southern edge of Antiek'Vee forest to ensure that they have not been attacked by the odd creatures of the forest. The Council is meeting soon to discuss re-integration so any evidence confirming their innocence will be beneficial.
  2. The assassin teleported away from the stage, but tracks lead into the forest. If you can find those responsible or any evidence of who they are (or where they're going), report back.
  3. Multiple hunting parties reported run-ins with creatures behaving oddly - awkward gaits, unusual behavior, and an almost insatiable hunger. Find any evidence you can about what is causing this and what the source might be.
