Kuprum-Rodan

DnD: Orc

When the settlers returned to Trast and began to explore the northern valleys, they discovered several tribes of metallic skinned humanoids inhabiting the foothills. Initial attempts to study them were met only with hostility, but eventually a few individuals sought out the newcomers. They showed a capacity to learn the common tongue, at least enough for basic communication. This race calls themselves the Kuprum-Rodan. Much of civilization refers to them as KupRo for short.   In the centuries since, the Kuprum-Rodan have largely remained resistant towards integrating with the various settlements across the region, if not outright hostile. As the tribes tend to be nomadic and live off the land, they don't generally forge refined tools or weapons. Instead what metal weapons they use are often crude, or stolen from the settlements they raid every so often. Perhaps this is due to them seeing many metals as a food source rather than a crafting material.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The KupRo have higher muscle mass than other humanoids. Their hair is almost exclusively black, fading to grey with age. Their unique metallic skin makes them incredibly resistant to harm, and practically immune to electricity as it just flows across them.

Ecology and Habitats

The KupRo stick to the mountains, relocating throughout the foothills as resources run low. If possible, they set up camp near caves with easier access to the metals necessary in their developmental diets. However, they also try to balance this distance with the forests, where they hunt for meat regularly.

Civilization and Culture

Major Organizations

  • Stoneclaw tribe: Located in the northern Setting Ridge mountains. They have consistently raided the settlements in the area, especially Ambergulch. Their attacks have slowed in recent years as their chieftain has gottne too old to continue leading raids.
  • Rising Sun Eaters tribe: Located in the Dawnslight Ridge mountains. This tribe has historically been willing to maintain a peace with the foothill settlements, with some members even leaving the tribe to live within them.

Average Technological Level

As nomadic tribes, the KupRo live off of the land using natural resources, or gear looted from raids on “civilized” areas. Armor use isn’t very common, but typically consists of hardened wood slats and bone, covered and/or bound together with leather and simple ropes or cord. It can be easily damaged, but also easily repaired or replaced. On rare occasion, some KupRo warriors wear looted pieces of poorly fitting armor. Their crafted weapons are generally wooden clubs lined with sharpened teeth or stones (notably obsidian shards). Any shields they make are bound slats like the armor, or natural carapaces harvested from hunted creatures and reinforced with other similar materials. Notable ranking members of the tribes may use weapons and armor looted then passed down from the aftermath of the Darcanist War.    The Kuprum-Rodan tribes eschew more advance technology, possibly due to seeing the horrors wraught three centuries ago between the factions of Ancient Trast.

History

The Kuprum-Rodan verbally pass down the history of their tribes, all of which include the disappearance of the drakes, and their ancestors observing The Fall of Trast as outside observers.
