The Three Doctrines of Ancient Trast
The people of the first great cities of Trast adopted Three Doctrines that guided their society.
1) Violence is only a means of survival: As The Ruination is what took the gods away from Dynos and prevented their return, the lawful Trastons widely believed that violence should only be used in life or death situations: hunting for food, defending yourself against a criminal or dangerous creature. As such, war was avoided in any ways possible, including keeping a vast distance between the cities and only claiming dominion within their walls.
2) Knowledge is power: The Trastons valued intellectual pursuits above all else. Inventors and researchers, both mundane and arcane, were held in the highest regard. The Seekers of Ixaitu were the most common religious organization. Some of the great cities boasted grand libraries, or vaults of inventions and magic items.
3) Advancement yields the greatest success: Following in line with the second doctrine, the third further reinforced that creation of new or improved technologies was the most beneficial efforts. This caused exploration into the rest of the world to be ignored for a long period of time, finally only happening once those that disagreed with this tenant had enough members to support themselves.
