Museo de Arqueología y Antropología

The Museo de Arqueología y Antropología (Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology) of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (National University of San Marcos) at 2 p.m. on Saturday March 19, the day following the meeting in Bar Cordano.   The museum is a recent addition to the campus. While the university was founded in 1551, making it the oldest seat of higher learning in the Americas, the museum was only opened in 1919. It is housed in a long, two-story stone building, painted dark yellow, fronted by the University Park.

Strange symbols and enigmatic carvings stir a sense of intrigue, while ancient texts seem to silently beckon, promising forbidden knowledge to those daring enough to seek it.   As you navigate the galleries, a subtle tension hangs in the air, heightening the intrigue. Shadows playfully dance along the walls, their shifting forms resembling fleeting glimpses of hidden wonders. The museum staff, friendly and approachable, move about their duties with a sense of purpose. They seem to possess a deep respect for the artifacts, their expertise shining through as they attend to the exhibits and offer assistance to curious visitors.
