Therin: Side Quest II Report
General Summary
Intro
You return from some morning errands a few days after your adventure in Daggerwatch to find a letter had been shoved under your door. Reading it, you find that it is an invitation from Seraphina Boromar, your old instructor and friend, to join her for a late lunch on the grounds of the Boromar Mansion. You remember the spot well, as it is where you did the majority of your training as a fighter. At the end of the missive, Seraphina asked you to stop by one of the bakers in Callestan to get her favorite dessert.
Callestan
Therin is treated poorly by the baker, a native of the Talenta Plains, but she produces two gambir with dates and crushed almonds- Seraphina's favorite.Hareth's Folly
Therin takes the meandering path through Hareth's Folly in the Upper City, seeing the many styles of buildings that the district is known for. After a while, he sees the familiar gate of the Boromar Mansion. The mansion itself is a square white marble structure with lithe columns and golden accents. Halflings work together to carry large wooden boxes, and several can be seen moving about the grounds tidying up. On the roof of the main building, several squat forms can be seen patroling with a musket at the ready. To your right, on the East side of the house, you see an acre of land- rare even in this level of Sharn- and a small domed tent in the traditional Talentan style. A thin trail of smoke curls its way into the sky from a spit assembled beside the tent.
Seraphina Boromar
Therin eats a quiet meal with his mentor, taking the time to share the details of his journey over the past month. He also expresses his concern that the demonic voice in his head, whom he has named Locutus is making him paranoid and pressuring him to steal weapons against his better judgment. The old halfling, though not equipped to express herself emotionally, was also concerned with the actions that the young elf was taking. She recommended that he stop his current reckless behavior, and listen to his new friends before he got himself killed. After their meal, Seraphina offered to spar with the elf in the way that they had done throughout his adolescence. He had come a long way since then, and after disarming him she was forced to employ her two clawfoot raptors to put the "upstart" in his place. After remedying his injuries with a Talentian salve, the old halfling bid him farewell to recover in the quiet of his apartment. The Ghost of Meshindi Vargas
Attempting to make ammends for his earlier transgression, Therin placed some quiet inquiries into the family of the recently deceased Sergeant Meshindi Vargas of the King's Citadel. Learning that his widow and children were residents of Daggerwatch, he took a place on the street and proceeded to wait for the family to return in the evening. He recognized them almost immediately: Sheena Vargas, her daughter Veera (age 7), and son Berundi (age 5) are immigrants from the Lhaazar Principalities that earned their place in Daggerwatch through Meshindi's exemplary service. They are currently living off of his pension, but Sheena recently applied to become a teacher at her children's school. Following them to their home (not at all creepy) he anonymously paid them 500 galifar.Maximillian ir'Valant
In the shadows under a nearby stoop, Maximillian ir'Valant watched the elven rogue place the sack of coins on the widow's doorstep. Therin saw him out of the corner of his eye, and proceded to try to lose the Inquisitive on his way back to his apartment in Callestan. After some acrobatic turns, diving in-between moving carriages, and rushing into a descending lift it seemed that Therin lost him.Rewards Granted

Notes
Seraphina mentioned specific concerns for the Boromar Ball: Assassins in the "elite" crowd, and the ramifications of an all-out assault from the Daask cell against the mansion. If the monsters attacked the mansion outright, it means that they are sure of their endgame...
