Cyphis ir'Rochefort
Count Cyphis ir'Rochefort
FAMILY TREE NOT AVAILABLE
Cyphis ir'Rochefort, Seditious Count, Leader of the Rose Rebellion, Man Broken By Failure.
In 973 YK, Count Cyphis ir'Rochefort launched an ultimately unsuccessful rebellion against the Kingdom of Karrnath. The rebellion was perfectly planned. It was launched during the Third Siege of Korth, and Count Cyphis was able to amass significant support among the people and the petty nobility. Since the County of Teryk acts as the breadbasket of Karrnath, Count Cyphis intended to force the rest of the Kingdom to surrender by withholding their food. Somehow, King Jaron ir'Wynarn was able to convince the Blackstaff, Vortimund, to crush the Rose Rebellion. Through arcane means, Vortimund transported himself and the King's Honor Guard into the inner chambers of the Rosefort. While the Honor Guard held back the Count's soldiers, Vortimund easily overpowered Cyphis ir'Rochefort. Victorious, Vortimund brought Cyphis back to Korth where, in the Grand Square of Karrn the Conqueror, Vortimund forever sealed the power of Count Cyphis of Teryk.
Magically neutered and humiliated, Cyphis returned to Teryk in shame. Until his death seventeen years later in 990 YK, Cyphis ir'Rochefort lived at the bottom of a bottle. His wife disappeared in 981 YK, unable to stand the continued presence of her husband. It is said that he drank himself to death, but there are some theories that he was assassinated. Whether the supposed assassins were loyalists to the Kingdom or, perhaps, someone closer, no one can truly say.
Wife: Bevry Meadowshift (968 YK to 981 YK).
