Doctor or First Hunter Rudolph Van Richten
The first of the Hunters, Rudolph Van Richten is a legendary monster hunter and is one of the most well-known heroes of the land. Before the invention of the hunters, Doctor Rudolph Van Richten was already famous for his assault against the dark creatures of the night. He came to Barovia to hunt the devil, Strahd Von Zarovich, but by the time he arrived the devil had already been slain and The Scourge was already in full affect. Seeing an opportunity, Leo Dilisnya approached Rudolph and personally persuaded him into starting the first of the Hunter Workshops. He is personally responsible for the training of several notable hunters, including the young half-elf daughter of Leo, Yarmilla, and the Vistani woman known as Ezmerelda d'Avenir.
Rudolph preferred to work quickly and quietly, preferring a fast and nimble approach to his hunting style. It is through him that many of the original firearms were constructed and several trick weapon designs are attributed to him, or are inspired by his work. His most famous weapon is his cane and his rifle. He has not been seen in the public for over five years now, and his whereabouts are currently unknown. Some say he retired due to his old age, while others believe something much more sinister happened to the old half-elf.
