Espetania

Espetania is a Mianis kingdom to the south of where the Seper Range and Redems Range meet, centered around the Torsional Straits. Espetania is a small kingdom, however its location so close to many of the dwarven clans who live on Kasetia makes it a key intermediary between the Stoutfolk of the continent and other states.

Culture

In Espetania, the capital acts as the power base for all actions concerning the wider kingdom. Espetania officially acts as a feudalistic system, whereby small settlements pay tax towards the ruling family, however this has started to fall out of practice and each settlement can in many ways be seen as its own republic now instead.

Assets

  • All bridge crossings from Redems Range to the Seper Range
  • Coastal forts among the islands of the Torsional Straits
  • A standing army of around 25,000 troops

History

Espetania was founded as the Mianis Collective moved further west. During the Great Migration, the Mianis Collective had traveled through the areas now known as Espetania and settled on the fertile flood plains of the Torsional Straits, building a small settlement based at the mouth of River Vida in the year -1007. Here, the fledgling settlement of Enaveirveiro slowly grew, eventually encompassing the entire river delta. As such it grew in strength, being an impressively wealthy and prosperous city-state.

As a result of the Enaveirveiro Earthquake in 106, much of the city was lost and forced to rebuild. This led to the development of numerous smaller towns in the region and the establishment of Espetania as a formal state and kingdom.

After the Shattering of the Collective in 992, Espetania has held a position of neutrality when dealing with foreign powers.
