The Spike

The mage prison called the Spike is a fortress built atop a series of rocky islands that juts out of the water a few miles offshore from the port of Samanca. The rocks themselves are rich in elascyr and as a result, they shimmer with brilliant violet reflections in the light. The prison's tall stone walls are visible from the village, and a constant stream of magical energy crackles in the air, casting an eerie glow over the surrounding waters.

The prison is a place of great mystery and fear. Legends abound of the powerful and dangerous mages who are held within its walls, and many of the villagers avoid looking directly at the island, as if fearful of attracting the attention of the mages within. Rumors abound about the treatment of the prisoners, and some of the villagers claim to have seen strange apparitions or heard wails of pain carried on the wind.
