Blacken Elf
Blacken Elves are a race of elf that reside in Eastern Torlos. They are characterized by their glowing, black, cracked skin caused by their use of the aether.
Homeland
Main Article: Torlos Together with the Wood Elves, the Blacken Elves call Torlos their home. Torlos is a large island that resides within the center of the Great Sea, near the coast of Lakelandia's Death Swamp. Because of Torlos' location, the island has a very tropical climate. Vast rainforests dominate the Western half of the island whereas tropical savannas cover the East. The Northern half of the island is covered by an arid desert and is separated from the South by a massive, active volcano which lies in the center of the island. The slopes of the volcano climb high enough in altitude to produce a snow covering, this area is commonly known as the Highlands. The Blacken Elves reside mainly within the savannas of Eastern Torlos, with some populations residing in the Highlands and deserts of Central and Northern Torlos.Description
Blacken Elves are easily the most unique in appearance out of all the races of godkin. Extended use of the Aether has resulted in their skin growing pure black in color. Cracks in their skin have also formed where pure magic seeps out in the form of a dim, purple light. The cracks in the skin of Blacken Elves superficially resemble the scales of reptiles and as such Blacken Elves are often referred to as reptilians or lizards in a derogatory manner.Culture
Blacken Elves have grown naturally nervous and paranoid living under the looming threat of an active volcano which drowns their cities in smog. Although most Black Elven city states appear to have a democratic system of electing leaders, rampant corruption throughout all of Black Elven politics has made this nothing more than a lie. These factors have created a culture built upon deceit and paranoia. The structure of Black Elven cities reflects their paranoid culture. Buildings and homes are built tall and close together, usually touching with no room for an alleyway between them. Streets are cramped and crowded with winding, maze like patterns throughout the cities. The cities themselves are widely overpopulated, resulting in a very high rate of poverty within Black Elven society. Due to this, many Blacken Elves have resorted to thievery to get by, using the aether to do so, using telekinesis to take items from afar or summoning portals to break into homes. The streets of Black Elven cities are crawling with crime.Religion
Main Article: New Elvish Religion Blacken Elves largely follow the New Elvish Religion, which worships Kis' as the one Elvish god. This religion was introduced to the Blacken Elves by the Light Elves of Structzeno early on in their history. It is also not uncommon for Blacken Elves to become necromancers. By doing so, they may abandon their religion in favor of none, or the more sinister, Undead Pantheon.Blacken Elf Names
