Wood Elf
Wood Elves, also known as Forest Elves, are a tan-skinned race of elf which hail from the forested regions of Torlos. Wood Elves are known to use their almost natural affinity for life magic to mold vegetation to create lush palaces and homes within the trees of their homeland.
Homeland
Main Article: Torlos Together with the Blacken Elves, the Wood Elves call Torlos their home. Torlos is a large island that resides within the center of the Great Sea, near the coast of Lakelandia's Death Swamp. Because of Torlos' location, the island has a very tropical climate. Vast rainforests dominate the Western half of the island whereas tropical savannas cover the East. The Northern half of the island is covered by an arid desert and is separated from the South by a massive, active volcano which lies in the center of the island. The slopes of the volcano climb high enough in altitude to produce a snow covering, this area is commonly known as the Highlands. The Wood Elves almost exclusively reside within the jungles of Western Torlos.Description
Wood Elves are easily differentiated by their Blacken and Light Elven cousins by their brown or tan skin. The hair of Wood Elves is also much rougher in comparison to that of the other elves. Wood Elves are very agile, coming from a culture of mainly hunter gatherers. Their agility helps them hunt and flee from the beasts of Torlos.Culture
Wood Elves have a deep respect for the natural environment of Maji. Throughout their history, they have refrained from benefiting from the use of large-scale agriculture and the keeping of livestock. Instead, Wood Elves prefer to hunt and gather for their food. Although Wood Elves refrain from keeping livestock, tamed or domesticated animals for the purpose of hunting and warfare aren't off the table. Wood Elves are known to tame the ancient beasts of Torlos, whereas their cousins, the Blacken Elves, would just view them as pests or dangers. The Wood Elves also stray away from the collection of natural resources to build structures or to fuel fire. Wood Elves instead use life magic to bend and manipulate foliage to create shelter. For most, these shelters are temporary, a resting place in between hunts, but permanent Wood Elven settlements also exist throughout Western Torlos. These settlements take the form of massive palace like structures molded from the trees; the entire population of these settlements live together within these structures or close outside. The Wood Elves' nomadic lifestyle and existence almost entirely within the jungles makes them appear mysterious to outsiders. Many Wood Elves are entirely isolated from the outside world, having very little, or zero, contact with non-Wood Elves.Religion
Main Article: Old Elvish Pantheon & New Elvish Religion The original Old Elves followed the Old Elvish Pantheon, which gave totemic representations to each of the gods. Statues of these totems would be built and worshiped across Torlos by the Old Elves that settled it. Due to the isolated nature of the Wood Elves, it is very likely that many groups continue to follow the Old Elvish Pantheon to this day. Early on in the history of Torlos, the Light Elves brought over the New Elvish Religion, which scrapped the totems and instead worshiped Kis' as the sole Elvish god. This religion quickly spread throughout Torlos, becoming the dominant belief among the Blacken and Wood Elves.Wood Elf Names
