"Father to the Elves in the literal sense if you believe the elven lore. I'm not sure myself but they seem to be quite proud of it. He's quite proud of his children, probably too proud."
Taryn Wanderfoot
Fol'nor came to be in the same way as the other gods but unlike the others, he didn't instantly know his purpose, his role. He chose to observe Eglorix and his brethren for a time. His role would become evident and it would rival that of all his brethern, he was certain. As he traveled the observing creation he came upon
Kartoum Goddess of Nature tending the lands of Eglorix. He instantly fell in love. Her beauty and diligence won him over without him saying a word. He introduced himself, quite ashamed of his lack of role and Kartoum smiled, cared little for his missing role, and invited him to tend the lands beside her. So they did, he may have spent as much time gaining her favor as working but all the same, the elves say this is where the greatest wonders in nature came from. Within a short time, it was evident that Kartoum felt the same way about him as he did her.
Wedding
The first divine wedding was held soon after. It was a thing of wondrous gifts and spectacle. Traditions were created because there were none before. Fol'nor arranged everything and designed the event. It's said that this is why weddings are performed the way they are today. From there the two took their honeymoon around Eglorix, seeing the different wonders of Eglorix again for seemingly the first time. When they felt the need to return to their duties it didn't take long to realize some things had changed. The places they visited during their honeymoon had become beautiful magical groves of trees. Some of the slender trees began to break free from their roots and walk around. They named them Elves, and Fol'nor knew his purpose. He would be their Father and their God.
War of the Gods
The Elves prospered under the care of Fol'nor and their cultures grew strong and proud. The Elves faired well in the struggle against the
Outsiders proving to themselves and their God that they were superior in warfare as well or so they thought. Fol'nor's pride got the better of him and soon the elves refused entry into their lands, their woods, or access to their resources. He said the others cared little of the sanctity of nature and the elves defended it. Within a few short months the peoples of the Gods were at war with one another, Elves, Dwarves, Humans, all peoples on one "holy" crusade against each other. When
The Accords were proposed Fol'nor was the last to sign and only at the insistence of his wife. "Much harm has come to what you sought to protect. This is what's best." She said.
Into the Ages
Even with the Accords in place, the Groves that were not destroyed during the War still maintain a mystical aura and are cherished by the elves. Few outsiders have ever been allowed entry to these places of wonder. Eventually, the spirit of exploration came to some of the elves across Eglorix and they began to leave their groves and woods to explore, to make a life for themselves. They went out and mingled with the other races, set old hatreds aside and built something new. That may have been something as simple as a farm to something as grand as an empire.
Fol'nor is still fiercely proud of his children and worshiped by most of them.
