Kil’han

"A single Kil'han defender would stand alone before a legion and it was the legion who would show fear" - Eckhart

Origin

The origins of the Kil'han date back to the second age. Legend has it a group of warriors followed the light of a star one night to a small village beset by many bandits. While the light of that star was unobstructed in the sky the warriors fought without falter and could not be struck down. Only when the clouds of the night obscured the star or a member fled did the bandits weapons find their foe. When day broke the village stood, citizens alive and the group of warriors stood victorious. The group of warriors was lead by Exdohr the First Prelate of Onan .

Growth

As the Kil'han grew in number and their faith deepened, Onan God of the Distant Star, blessed his faithful with knowledge and speed. Exdohr and his defenders were said to defend a village in Brom in the morning and a hamlet in Dane in the evening. As their numbers grew they began to establish citadels to train warriors and clerics for Onan on each continent. As leadership passed from Prelate to Prelate the order grew and was seen as a symbol of stability in the uncertain times of the second age.

Onan's great gift

It was in the last years of Exdohr's leadership that Onan blessed him with a vision. The wisdom and ability to create the Sapphire of Stars . Exdohr made one for each of the temples and one more. When he finished the final Sapphire he told his followers that the last sapphire was very special and its radiance would guide them long after he was gone. When the sun rose the next day he was gone. Another Prelate of Onan was selected from the order, Celaena. In her wisdom and faith, she used the final Sapphire to guide the order to the creation of the Sanctum Of Exdohr.

The Starless Night

Tensions between the Sira’Kahn and the Kil’han grew and grew as the second age began to sunset. Many were uncertain why the Kil'han stood idle while the Sira'kahn's atrocities and imperialism seemed to know no bounds. In the breadth of one afternoon an unseen force set upon the Kil'han's strongholds. It is certain that the Stone Citadel and the Azure Hold fell. The Kil'han were scattered and the remaining citadels were taken, destroy, abandoned or sealed. The Sanctum Of Exdohr and the other citadels were lost their location unknown.

A Light in the Desert

The Kil'han were scattered and the various groups were disconnected and unsupported. Most groups disbanded, a few changed allegiances, and a small few tried to stay true. The Starless night was long, lasting until the very end of the 3rd epoch when a group of adventurers discovered the Stone Citadel and reset the Kil'han gateway deep inside. Once reset a portal opened and ejected Orion Sollarus a priest of Onan trapped in mid-teleport since the beginning of the Starless Night. He claimed the Stone Citadel as his own and joined Deus Umbra.

The Star Returns

With the return of a priest, the order has gradually begun to rebuild. A small remnant that wandered the deserts of Tharos returned to the Stone Citadel, some of the refuges from M'Erenal, and others came to join the new ranks of the order. The Prelate of Onan played a pivotal role in Battle of RavenCrest and the War for Brom.
