Osman
The Osman trace their roots back to before central Mitari became the Desolation. The tribes and families are proud of their heritage and their ability to adapt and overcome. They form very loose organizations of tribal or family caravans that travel the Desolation and are the only methods of relative safety available to cross from northern to southern Mitari. This makes these nomadic tribes essential for trade and travel. The Tribesmen occasionally work as independent guides but far more often operate as groups.
The Osman are as close to masters of the Desolation and survival as it comes. The Osman build large wagons and carts for their immediate families instead of traditional homes. To keep their homes mobile they have domesticated the Desolation Ox . Each wagon varies in size and function based on the needs of the family and their job within the tribe. When stopped and arranged for an evening the caravan looks more like a small village that just appeared than a caravan. These caravan towns make their way from inland ports like Cogrove to the few places in the Desolation that are livable called The Points and then onward to the opposite side of The Desolation. Most caravans make this journey many times over the course of a year.
The Osman typically welcome all races and newcomers to earn their place in the tribe and join one of the various families, the emphasis is on earn. A person desiring to join must find a tribesman or caravan leader to accept them on a crossing to prove their worth and earn their place. If an outsider proves his worth and a family is willing to vouch for them they go through the ceremony of Grafting and they are added and joined to the family tree of the Osman ancestors who owned this land. At that point they are an Osman and their race and what they were before doesn't matter.
