Aundair (On-Day-Ear)

Aundair is a region on the continent of Khorvarie previously governed by the continent spanning Empire of Galifar. After Galifar's sundering in the wake of the Last War it has become the territory and seat of the Kingdom by the same name, Aundair, The Crystalline Haven.

Geography

Aundair is mostly a large plain with lush forests and large mountain ranges dotting its landscapes. Much of Aundair's boundaries are marked by natural geographical features. The Wynarn River and Lake Galifar in the west, the Blackcaps to the south, the Eldeen Bay in the north, and Scions Sound and Aundair River in the northwest. The only border not so demarcated is that between Aundair and Thrane, its neighbor to the east. Breland sits to the south and the newly formed Eldeen Reaches borders the west. lightning rails and stage coaches pass through the larger cities of Passage and Fairhaven while House Orien roadways and paved paths network through to smaller cities and westward to the Eldeen Reaches.

Ecosystem

Aundair is a unique land filled with all manor of magical events. The magic of the realm is furthered by the increase in Lithomancy which the land has then taken after. This has caused a massive variety of magically infused crystals to grow across the land, changing the wildlife and providing sustenance to the magic beasts that inhabit the land.

Ecosystem Cycles

Seasons in Aundair pass as normal, changing with 3 month increments starting with early spring during the month of Therendor to early winter during the month of Vult. Despite the normal seasonal cycle, the seasons dictate which gemstones will inhabit the land during the year, with the only constant being the primary gemstones of Amethyst, Emerald, Topaz, Sapphire, and Quartz. The creatures react to this in different ways, those that don't correspond with the primary gemstones, often collect in the previous months and hibernate during the months that their food source isn't present, with others hunting down those with similar gemstones to stave off hunger for a few days before hunting once more. The gemstones and their monthly cycles are as following:

Localized Phenomena

Oddly enough, despite Aundair's distance from the equator of Ehberys and its reletively low elavation, Skystone Shardfalls happen quite frequently on its mountains and even sometimes on the fields around Fairhaven. Many believe this is due to lands naturally magical properties alongside the frequent use of magic by those that inhabit it. This leads many patriotic Aundairain's to believe that they're the chosen of Siberys, and will lead the world into a better more magical future.   This belief is furthered by the previous stated, magical nature of the land. It seems that whatever school of magic is primarily used in the region at the time transforms the land's ecosystem accordingly, in the past this was hard to visualize as Aundair has always used a wide array of magic, but in recent times, the nations shift to Lithomancy has caused a great deal of change.

Fauna & Flora

Aundair is the home to a plethora of crystalline creatures such as the Topaz Fang which lives in the mountains, and the Sapphire Beaks that soar over the forest apexes known as the Obsidian Brassk. These creatures all feed off of the gemstones that rise from the grounds, and the crystalline fauna such as ruby apples and opal berries.   These creatures all interact in different ways, when a pack of Quartz Helynas slay and devour their prey, an Agate Corvos will come to devour the decomposing corpses left behind.

Natural Resources

Aundair has a variety of natural resources, from the grain and bluevine produced by its fertiles fields and massive vineyards, to the magical crystals that grow and change across its seasons. Aundair also experiences frequent skyfalls, making it one of the largest producers for Skystones in western Khorvarie.

Tourism

Aundair is filled with many magical wonders, such as the floating towers of Arcanix or the tropical island resort of Stormhome.
