Cassio Mendahoovah
Erviddi "Cassio" Mendahoovah, known also as Cass, is a Thesséliasell ranger, notable for his encounter with the Light Brigade during the Eventide. Born in a forest gnome village in Thessélias, he was an acolyte of Rakodah in his adolescence. When one of the priests returned from a pilgrimage having been badly injured by a monstrosity that had nested in one of the temples on his journey, Cassio became upset to learn that these holy sites were being threatened, and he began to learn nature magic so as to be able to protect them. Some years later, he began a long journey, spending many decades wandering the wilds and visiting remote holy sites. Occasionally he found a fight too big for him to handle and made a tactical retreat.
He wandered into a Vundkragi warzone and was saved and befriended by the dwarven barbarian Pedra Caverndrop in 937. They traveled together for many decades, occasionally separating temporarily but largely pursuing similar goals. A few other companions came and went, but Cassio and Pedra remained steadfast friends. They added the rogue Xandra Keita to their party in 998 when they were shocked to discover that a den of thieves Xandra was hunting had made their hideout in the small forest where they were on retreat at the time.
The three companions were caught in the midst of the Battle of Bluehaven in mid-November of EL 1000. They fought against the nightbringer aggressors, but Pedra fell in battle. Cassio was devastated by her loss, but in the next few days, he assisted the Light Brigade in tracking down Vetrano the Illustrious. Xandra accompanied the Brigade on their next quest, while Cassio traveled to Geldereth, where he remained for about a month, preparing for the looming Battle for the Stars, in which he fought valiantly.
Cassio has also been known to train a variety of dog breeds as mounts. Following the end of the Eventide and a period of true mourning over Pedra's death, he made a business of it in Briar Glen.
