Rakodah

"He could not stay. I think it would have killed him to stay."
Vennuath Aressius of Neiren Illa

Rakodah is the god of travelers and sailors. It is said that as soon as he first beheld the beauty of Mejddimlad, even as a very young child, he wondered what other beautiful places the world might hold. Though he tried to stay at home with his family, he felt within him a great unrest even very early in his youth, and very quickly set out to see what he could of the world and try to find whatever it was he felt he was missing. He quickly became terribly lonely but knew that he could not stay in one place for too long, as his wanderlust ever drove him forward. As the first ships had not yet been built, Rakodah took the form of a dolphin so he could travel to other lands, and would spend years and years far away from all the other Meydra. He was the first to travel to other planes, or even imagine that such places might exist, and he reached them by sheer force of will. He is said to have usually disguised himself as whatever race was most prevalent in the area he was in, and a vast array of theories exist among historians of which important historical figures may have actually been Rakodah. Rakodah is portrayed as an unassuming human man in traveler’s clothes and a patchwork cloak, a pack on his back and a distinctive walking stick in his hand.

Relationships

Rakodah's parents were Corinnis and Olanna, and his siblings were Nenrë, Kiritch, and Wulozha. He married a human woman of what is now known as Ruha Island, resulting in the Simrae Rina and Moek.

Followers

Beyond the small, unattended temples built all over the wildlands of the world, and Rakodan prayer rooms which are commonly found on ships, Rakodah has temples in a great number of the oldest villages and cities in Talazic due to the number of them he visited and helped. These temples are usually run largely by clerics who are too old to travel anymore, but acolytes and apprentices spend the first few years of their training in one place, as Rakodah teaches that it is important to have a home to hold onto, even if you never return to it. Most of his clerics, however, are itinerant, as after a point, they are sent adventuring.
