Kematar Meliamne
Kematar Meliamne was the court wizard of King Aaravel of Gaulvista. He resided in the capital city of Silune until his eventual escape during the Desolation of Gaulvista.
History
Kematar, born Cy Meliamne, was the second son of a high-ranking soldier in King Gelefris's army, born shortly after Prince Aaravel had chosen his adult name. During his young adulthood he began to demonstrate not only a fascination with the study and practice of magic, but also great skill in the same area. He became apprentice to Gelefris's court wizard, Fallendos, and studied under him for many years. During this time he also became great friends with Aaravel. Cy was very supportive of Aaravel when his father died in 570 and Aaravel assumed the throne. Fallendos saw the deep friendship between the two men and stepped down as court wizard when Cy came of age and chose his adult name 40 years into Aaravel's reign, allowing Kematar to take up the position, which he held until Aaravel's death.
Incident of EL 921
In the late spring of 921, a point of public unrest in Silune was a rumored attack against Kematar by two thieves who stole away a powerful staff from his keeping. The following morning it was announced publicly that the staff had been recovered and Kematar was unharmed, and nothing else has ever been officially reported of the incident.
Magic
Kematar was known for keeping most of his known spells close to the vest, though in the rare cases when an emergency made it necessary to demonstrate the full extent of his power, witnesses reported that power as being tremendous. His fighting style seemed to be not exactly defensive or offensive; instead he preferred neutralizing the enemy's ability to fight and then incapacitating him or her, whenever possible.
