Perennitus
"It is the ultimate participation in the will of Evendur to heal. In this fallen world, all we really seek is a remedy for our ails. If we have been offered any capacity to mend what is broken, how could we not do so at every opportunity?"Perennitus
Perennitus is the god of healing and medicine. He was a strong but gentle soul—he was rarely involved in conflict, because he never sought to begin it, and rarely did anyone else seek to begin it with him. However, he saw misfortune come down upon those around him, and he worked to help their bodies heal. Beyond his desire to help, he seemed to possess an innate understanding of how the body worked, and even easily saw the differences across races. He devoted himself to finding resources in the varying plants that grew in the different regions of Ekaia which could facilitate the healing process. When Lesta-Yen began to spread disease around Ekaia, Perennitus saw similarities between the way these conditions were killing people and the way injuries did, and took it upon himself to try to develop cures to them as well. He is patron to all healers and physicians, and is seen as brother to Corinnis, god of peace. Perennitus is portrayed as a strong, broad-shouldered human man in a white tunic and cape trimmed with gold, his hands glowing.
Relationships
Perennitus was widely respected among the Meydra. His wife was Na-Ima and they had two children, Elairus and Rōz-El. He also helped to mentor Imennis, by her request.
Followers
Perennitus's followers are all dedicated to the noble practice of preserving the bodily health of others even at cost to self. In times of peace and health they keep their talents and their knowledge sharp by studying, gathering herbs, and brewing healing potions.
Associated Customs
"Warmth and wellness": A phrase used as both a greeting and farewell. The optional reply is, "In body and breath."
White gloves: The highest-ranking archclerics wear white gloves with their robes. This is symbolic both of the importance of protecting their hands as tools of healing, and of a commitment to keep harm from being done, or blood from being spilled, in the first place—hence the white color, unwise in contexts of healing wounds.
Temples and Relics
The center of the Perennital order is the temple in the city of Karassend in southern Vundkrag. It is headed by the grand archcleric, called the Foremost Mender of Perennitus, a position currently occupied by Gundra Angarv.
