Meydra
The Meydra were a race of supremely powerful entities created by Evendur near the beginning of time. He designated each of them to govern over certain principles and groups. Not all followed his plans. They roamed over all of Talazic and beyond, many even venturing to other planes, but the place they favored most was what is now known as the Valley of the Meydra, in Jeltir.
They had children, and their children had children. By the third generation, the offspring were too far removed from Evendur to carry his divine light inside of them. Not long after the third generation had begun, Evendur separated the bodies and souls of the Meydra, bringing them into the Beyond to reside with him, thus removing all possibility of further procreation, and bringing the Age of the Meydra to a close forever.
In the absence of their parents, save for fleeting moments in their dreams, these members of the third generation, who were called the Simrae, descended to live among the other creations of Evendur. Though they were not gods themselves, they carried remnants of their ancestral divinity, and those with whom they eventually settled still today have descendants in whom the divine gene is strong. They, along with those who may have been touched by something otherworldly at some point in their family history, are called aasimar.
Some of the Meydras’ incorrupt bodies still remain in the Material Plane today. These are greatly revered, and most whose locations are known have temples built around or above them. In the most extraordinary or dire of circumstances, the clerics who keep these relics may allow certain individuals to touch these remains, opening a direct line to its respective Meydra.
In time, watching over the progression of the lesser creations of Evendur, the Meydra came to favor some races and populations. Their being pure spirit now allowed them to appear in whatever shape they chose, no matter how abstract, although most of them favor the same shapes they usually took while in Ekaia.
Most of the first two generations are still revered in at least a few places throughout Ekaia. Some groups invented their own gods, or choose to worship lesser beings. Some Meydra see fit to answer prayers put to such lesser beings, even if it substantiates false beliefs.
