Personal history
The ongoing war between Unyct and Oas had been at a slow point until Sana's adulthood, when she turned eighteen. Unyctan seers were said to be infiltrating the forest, and rumors spread that the infamous seer hunts were going to start up once more. It was around this time, her brother left home. He moved to Taicha, across the ocean, and only communicated via letters for many years. With her and her mother alone, Sana began to try and expand her magical knowledge, learning old spells that had been passed down by her grandmother that were forms of socially ostracized magic, aiming to attack rather than to heal.
As Sana went into her magical renegade phase, the town of Sokabon became more important on a political scale due to the rising tensions. She met a few political dignitaries, including the country's ambassador and second son of the rorak, Dakinath na Mejekhi as well as his apprentice, Lukia na Mejekhi. She became good friends with both of them, with her and her mother allowing them to rest in their home. Eventually, Dakinath learned about her illegal magic practices, and offered to help. The two bonded over this, and kept in contact for years. Their friendship grew, and they eventually fell in love. This did however, lead to the accidental birth of Syha Immediately after finding out, Dakinath offered to marry her, but she refused, unwilling to leave her home. He understood and accepted this, and the two kept their relationship secret to all but their mother, who passed only about a year before Syha's conception. Sana worked at raising Syha in all Cascan tradition, claiming that she didn't know who the father was. During the next year, Dakinath's secret, illegal practices were exposed. He was arrested, put on trial, and exiled, all after just learning that Sana was pregnant with a second child. She didn't see him in his last nights in Ahkna, and instead was approached by his brother, Jirkanon, the next ruler. He told her that he knew about the secret relationship, and offered to adopt her children. However, she declined, not wanting to be separated from them. After that, she simply raised her kids.
Sana never taught her sons the spells she'd learned that weren't related to healing, as the seer hunt scare seemed to die down after Dakinath's exile.
