Elena Swiftriver
Elena was a promising investigator, working under Drake Chosa in Nakaba. Whilst working at Gotcha' Investigations, Elena met a young Atlas Skyrunner (using the name "Darvin"), and the pair quickly became good friends - eventually developing feelings for one another.
During a dangerous mission, the pair were ambushed, and Elena was killed. The grief of her death was too much to bear for Darvin, who fled Nakaba and wasn't seen again.
Devastated by this chain of events, Drake swore to no longer take on apprentices, instead choosing to work solo for the rest of her career.
In his grief and desperation, Atlas attempted to resurrect Elena, using a book that he found in his youth. The ritual failed however, and Elena's spirit was instead bound to him. Alive but not living, Elena now haunts Atlas - a constant reminder of his failings.
In recent times, Elena has begun to manifest her old body, using the Changeling capabilities of Atlas' body. This shapeshifting seems to be random and uncontrollable, but happens mostly at night - when Atlas is unconscious.
