General Summary
Blair speaks with Annalise behind the bar of the MacGuffin Gatherer's taproom, to try and find someone who might be able to identify the strange creatures that the party have encountered
Annalise can't think of anyone in particular, other than their special guest from Sigil
The party interrupt Godfrey Verren and Scarlet Rubrum's meeting to ask for a quick chat when they're finished. Godfrey isn't best pleased by this, but Scarlet is happy to oblige
With the offered decription, Scarlet believes the creatures to be "Chuul" - ancient creatures known to have once served an even more ancient master, Aboleths
Scarlet doesn't know much about these creatures, other than that they are old and dangerous. She suggests that Kureta may not have the information the party seek on these beasts, but should they ever make it to Sigil, they are welcome to look through the archives there
The party ask Inadi to teleport them to Kureta City, where they collect Adriana's hidden stash - which contains some gold, potions and a couple of Magic Items
The group then head out west to recover this mysterious black crystal shard for Celine
The journey to the cave is uneventful, but once the party get closer, they notice that the sounds of nature gradually die out. Being cautious, the party move quietly and keep an eye out for anything strange
Getting closer, signs of something large being dragged across the ground towards the cave begin to emerge
The cave mouth eventually comes into sight, and the party discover corpses of both animals and humanoids scattered around
Investigating one such corpse, Barnabus is attacked by a zombie, which rises from the ground along with a host of others
The zombies are defeated, and the party find some interesting loot
Moving into the cave, the group discover that poisonous gas is not the only thing lurking within
2 routes emerge, one covered in webbing and the other seemingly a few columns spread out across a deep pit
The party opt for the webbed route, and are attacked by a cluster of giant spiders
The spiders are killed, not before dealing out some serious damage
Advancing into the cave, the party find the deadly gas - which Roan identifies as being from a mushroom known as Sporeveil Fungus
Celine goes ahead alone, while Roan temporarily disperses the gas with a spell
A small broken library is discovered, but the only thing of use found within is a Scroll of Darkness
Celine picks up a few trinkets and a note from the base of a statue of Morgana, the goddess of Witchcraft and Shadows
She spots the black crystal at the tip of this statue, and climbs up to grab it
Popping the crystal out, the face of the statue elongates, as a shadowy creature emerges from within...
