Once were Dwarves

Breac Sunfist and Damien Ironbrand led an expedition of guild agents north up the Helgin Glacier to the Old Wreck Site, to access an old device Damien said could restore his memory. Along the way, the party noticed very faint signs of a distant battle to the north, and were once again shadowed by the barbarian tribes.

On arriving at the wreck site, Breac found no sign of the silver dragon, sa'Gregagagoron (Greg). They ventured inside, being scanned by Damien's security drones without incident this time, before proceeding into a room with a fountain and a small throne that was some form of psychic device. They seated Damien on the throne and plugged it in, and The Brotherhood of Steel attacked.

A multi-front fight broke out with the Brotherhood employing drilling machines to drop their troops directly into the back wall of the old laboratory, several of which employed invisibility modules to hide from the party. A modified Hellfire Engine then broke through the front doors and tried to storm up the centre of the hall and fire a cannon at Damien. It was intercepted by the guild and destroyed.

Damien, in the meantime, was speaking various phrases from other worlds, places and times. Eventually he spoke of a moment long in the past, before Guildfall or the betrayal of William 'Whisper' Bregan, when he gave William the keys to the mental locks that prevent anyone from learning how to make Little Warrior shield tokens without being taught the art first hand. As a further failsafe, William would hold the ability to rip this knowledge out of the minds of everyone except himself. As the events of Guildfall played out and Damien felt his own memory fade, he turned on the laboratory where he was teaching his last pupil, Jaspier Penrose, and threw it forward in time in an effort to preserve Jaspier's memory. That laboratory appeared in the side of the chamber, revealing a tired and near-death Jaspier within it.

Damien's memory has not been restored, and it is now clear the memory of how to build shield tokens has been removed from everyone's mind except that of Jaspier and William - and William Bregan is dead. The guild's future now appears to rest on the little halfling shoulders of young Jaspier.
