The Capital of Astnyr

Hystoria by AuthorChase on Inkarnate

Knowler built Hystoria in reminiscence of Notta, his previously assigned planet, and the citizens of the capital were delighted by the purple grass and blue flowers. The purple grass and blue flowers resonated with the rest of the capital's citizens, bringing different colors than any other part of Astnyr. Upon learning about Notta's fall, Beight and Nave decided to build a national monument dedicated to the planet where the God of knowledge lived. They placed it west of Hystoria's borders.

Hystoria was the first city to be created in the realm of Astnyr. Knowler landed on Astnyr when he left the planet of Notta to find his own path separate from his brother. Before he created the other gods, he needed a city of operations, which then became Hystoria. After a decade of research and discovery, Knowler built the rest of the capital with Beight and Nave, making it a more livable space. Knowler created the Light Elves, who called Hystoria home.   After many years, Hystoria became home to more races, and many more came to become Scholars. There was the founding of the Battle Mages as well to protect these Scholars within and outside of the city. However, they lost their most renowned researcher, Lunarius, to the god of madness. Hystoria organized a remembrance ceremony for Lunarius after addressing this matter. The rest of the region celebrated Lunarius' sealed fate, but Hystoria would forever remember Lunarius as one of the best scholars that ever lived.

Form of Government

Knowler valued his capital with the rich history it possessed. These historical records were free to peruse until recently, which involved Lunarius' attempted conquest. The location of Lunarius' sealed fortress could not be entrusted to those who wished to abuse that information. Knowler's sentiment became more true once Sonance reveals the vision about Lunarius' chosen.   Knowler's rule concentrated on the health and safety of his people. He took other God's and citizen's advice into account. However, after Lunarius's deception, he hid knowledge from his people. He thought there was some information they should not know, especially with the increase of treason within the Battle Mages. What the people did not know would not kill them, right?

Districts

The districts of Hystoria were divided into research and magic. Within the research district were the wizard towers, libraries, and inns. The magic district held the wizard military base, merchant and magic shops, and the homes of scholars.

Buildings and Services

The library was in the research district. They held all the information perused by citizens and travelers. Knowler reviewed all Scholar tomes and other research in order to gain approval of public use. The tomes that were not fit for public consumption were hidden in the library in Knowler's quarters. Lunarius's research joined his library and only came out once a year during the remembrance ceremony.

Multiple inns were placed in the research district. Travelers and citizens that lost their homes during a disaster used the inn's services for room and sustenance. Meanwhile, merchants sold their wares in the magic district to sell their wares. These wares were magic items, research items, and some delicacies known to be made in the capital.

Hystoria had many beautiful towers and courtyards, and was a good vantage point for militaristic Wizards and Flame Archers to monitor activities in the city. The courtyards gave Scholars a place to study in peace when they needed to gain inspiration or be out of their stuffy towers.

Defenses

Defenses included the military base, the wizard towers, and magical archers. Many magical archers were Elven and use magic on their arrows for increased damage. The wizard towers gave Battle Mages high ground advantage when facing enemies invading the city. The military base was where battle mages strategized their movements throughout the city and also a resting place for much of the military.

Regional Trade

Hystoria made its money by selling and buying magical items and supplies. The city's food sources from Magick Glades/Savior's Enclave. The Druids and farmers specialized in such food production from growing their own food. Hystoria received its weapons from Ironhammer until the Mountain Dwarves became hostile. Now weapons came from the trade city of Seaport. Hystoria made its own magical supplies and spells.
Lunarius
Lunarius was Knowler's second son, created without angelic powers. What he made up for lack of power, he used his mind to help the people of Astnyr. His research helped many before his descent into madness magic. Lunarius and Morana worked together in the research of disease and poisons, while Winter helped him in researching Celmani.

However, his life took a dark turn when he received a vision from a mysterious God that existed before Knowler discovered Astnyr. He became the new God of madness, finally with the power to change the region and the entire planet forever. Lunarius's fellow Gods cut short his conquest by sealing him in an underwater fortress. Since then, Lunarius used the fortress to create hurricanes to penetrate Seaport's walls, with each year becoming stronger. He would have his vengeance soon enough.
